1 edit | [CATV] Channel lineup changes beginning tonight
Beginning this evening, East Michigan will be making some (in some areas, significant) channel lineup changes. Other areas in Michigan, as well as other areas within what is known as the Central Division, may be scheduled to do the same this evening, though I can't say for certain. For details on channel lineup changes in your area, please visit »connect.charter.com/portal/setti···ups.aspx and enter your zip code.
From what I understand, the lineups are being re-organized to help facilitate the launch of digital simultrans (hopefully) later this fall.
That is all and have a good evening |

| Things changed here drastically! as of 7am, we had missing HD locals (NBC and 2 ABC's), QAM 79-85 were once 64QAM, are now off, maybe of QAM86-100 were 64QAM are now 256QAM. Looks like some load balancing was done as well, HDNet's were split to different frequencies. Its nice to see the changes taking place! But I would like my locals and HBO HD back soon! |

| reply to defiant Hey defiant (or anyone else), any chance you can get a message to someone on the West side? They did the full remap last night, and as a result, WOOD-DT, WZZM-DT, WOTV-DT and HBO HD are offline here. Coldwater cable plant. WOTV is being broadcast in clear QAM, but was removed from our guide lineup (it should be channel 780, its our ABC HD feed). HBO HD is seriously low signal, 6200stb inband status shows below 29db, and as a result, receivers are showing a "not auhtorized" screen even though I am. Tried having the receivers refreshed, but no help from it. WOOD and WZZM (NBC and ABC) are totally offline. They were supposedly moved to frequency 681mhz (qam 105) but I cant get a workable signal on that frequency with any tuner I have.
Actually, I am wondering if the changes to fix things are planned for tonight? I recall one of the supervisors down here telling me that they can only make certain changes between 1am and 5am, but that might have been for phone service.
Thanks |

| reply to defiant Our channel map is still messed up. Channel 780 was removed from STB's (was our ABC HD) and yet is still available in clear QAM on 699mhz.
But the best part is how I am tuned to HBO HD channel 777 right now, watching ESPN U! I'd say that might be messed up That would be 657mhz right now for 777, but yesterday was on 627mhz. Of course the other issue that could be causing all this is that 657mhz is horrible signal quality right now, lower than 30db on my 6200's in-band status page, and yet it was one of my stronger frequencies before the remapping.
Is it possible the low signal level is causing HBO's channel number to mis-tune to the wrong subchannel? Also getting on average over 100 correctable error counts every 5 seconds. |

| Well things are still wrong here, and looks like its not going to be fixed. Maybe when they actually launch the new channels on 9-12 someone will see the error of their ways!
HBO HD is showing ESPN U. ESPN-U is on 657mhz, and HBO HD is on 627 mhz from what I can tell from my scans and bitrate measurements.
And our ABC HD still is missing from the channel lineup, I have no idea why it was removed, since its still fully functional on QAM tuners.
Luckily I have QAM tuners, so no football was missed yesterday, but as much as I like ESPN U being up early, I would rather have my HBO HD back for the next 2 weeks. |

defiant Garbage in, garbage out MVM join:2000-09-04 Monroe, MI | Are these all CableCard-QAM tuners or are any of them Motorola DCTs? Have you tried the calling the 800 number and used the automated system to 'reset' your cable equip.? |

| Both cable card and DCT's. I've found HBO HD by using a HD Homerun QAM device, it was the only HD channel that I couldnt located via the DCT's in-band statut. HBO HD is on 627mhz, not sure which sub channel, and the DCT's and cable cards think it is on 657mhz.
Our ABC HD moved from 651mhz to 699mhz, and my HD Tivo knows its on channel 780 still, but cant tune it because the mapping doesnt exist from what I can tell. The DCT doesnt even show the channel in the guide, and thus cant force tune it either, it just jumps to the next higher channel.
I've done reset signals both automated and via a person, and also have contacted a local call center guy that has helped straighten out issues in the past, but he has not had any luck getting the guys at the local cable plant to fix it. |
