Re: speed increase for eastern nc

Hey Ford04Ranger,
I am with you man.
First off I hate folks that post smart arse comments and don't even have the testicular fortitude to post under a real screenname.
2nd off, I find it impossible to agree with the Marketing SCHEME that Suddenlink has right now offering college students the higher speeds, while the rest of us sit on the sidelines while the "youngins" get their high speeds before the rest of us.
After all I understand that 25,000 college students represent a huge potential revenue, but why not go ahead and offer it to all of us and offer the college students a discount. Makes more sense to me than this outright el-toro POO POO.
I have had internet since the 1200 baud modem days and feel that I along with many others have paid their dues and deserve better service than this excuse of high speed along with the pathetic customer service I have recieved since Suddenlink took over.
When I have called in "LOCALLY" I do not get a proper greeting from whomever answers nor do they say thank you or have a good night. Now that's just my experience but I feel compelled to share "My Experience".

I will sit here and try to patiently wait, however I am hoping that EmbarF will possibly offer the 10Meg service in the near future if nothing else but to even the playing field a bit.
Just my 2 cents worth.
V

·Suddenlink

I think everyone needs to step back and take a breath.

I'm the first to bash Suddenlink, but their just a ISP. Their CSRs suck, there aren't any upgrades in over a 4 years (VOIP isn't an upgrade), and their network sucks.

If Embarq ever gets the crap together and starts competing, I'll be the first in line. But they can't so I'm sicking with SL b/c they have a "better" product.

The 10mb promo is open to everyone, it's called the "Pirate" Promo. Anyone can order it, you just can't be under another promo.

At this point, Im just happy to have a stable connection again. I havn't had my slow down problem in a few days so I guess its fixed. My SNR has stayed at 38.8 all throughout the day so im good to go now.
The main reason I signed up with SL in the first place was because I heard about the 10meg package coming. I havn't been a SL customer but for a month so I really don't understand what you guys have been through waiting for this speed increase. All i know is, is that Embarq offers a good service in my area, and if they offered local support, and higher speeds, I would have went with them.

Oh, and trust me, I understand about the troll posts, I used to be a Hughesnet Customer, you won't find more trolls in any other message board. And being a Hughesnet Customer has also taught me patience. I paid 89.99/month for a service that gave me 1Mbps down and 200k up. I was lucky to get those speeds 1/4th of the time. Not to mention their "fair access policy". I guess thats why im a lot more patient with SL, because ive never had a good ISP anyways....

If you call in and ask for the Pirate Promo, you can get the 10mb for $45.

Suddenlink Doubling Speeds
Premier to 10Mbps, Preferred to 8Mbps
02:01PM Monday Sep 03 2007 by Karl
tags: business·bandwidth·cable·Suddenlink

Suddenlink Communications is bumping up downstream speeds for users in several markets. The company is doubling the speed of their "premier" tier to 10Mbps/2Mbps from 5mbps and is also doubling the speed of their "preferred" tier to 8Mbps/1Mbps from 4Mbps. The company also offers a "value" tier at 1 mbps. The company's website utterly fails to offer prices, so we've inquired (hey, uh, great video though).

The operator, which has traditionally been poorly reviewed by our users, just recently sold their Northern Virginia operations to Jet Broadband. It appears these new upgrades are being deployed in a staggered fashion across Suddenlink territories, though as the speedtest shows, not everybody has been invited to the party.

In the West Virginia markets that Suddenlink purchased from Charter Communications our Internet speeds did double.

Charter's Speeds in WV (Old Speeds):
3 Mbps Down/ 384 Kbps Up (Highest)
384 Kpbs Down/ 128 Kpbs
128 Kpbs Down/ 56 kbps

Suddenlink's Speeds in WV (New Speeds):
6 Mbps Down/ 384 Kbps Up (Premire)
1.5 Mpbs Down/ 384 Kpbs

My current speed test was:

I wish they would increase the Upload speed also.

The also increased our HD lineup from premium HD channels and TNT HD to an additional 13 channels including locals. Added a few digital cable channels (a religious channel and entertainment channel) and added "The Anime Network On Demand" in a SVOD and Free VOD forms. Thats more than Charter ever did.
