Ok, I'm not going to post links to other communities when I doubt they'll reciprocate!

Resources useful to visitors. I'm sure there are some other than 2 communities, and the sprint home page. For instance there is the sprint mobile broadband speed test.

I found that Sprint Speedtest to be all but worthless. It always says my pings are about 40-80ms. And all others say 140-200.
And the test isn't accruite either.

Typically, as other users have done else ware, you
measure latency/ping by opening your command prompt (Win XP)
and typing "ping -t www.google.com" without quotation marks.
Let it run for a bit, and press ctrl+C to stop it and get a listing of results.

My personal experience has been "good" pings are around 100ms to 115ms average.

Speed tests:
»www.speedtest.net/ (don't mind the latency counter)
»www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

I'm not seeing why the speakeasy or speedtest.net choice is a better test than our speed test, or the sprint one (which is the same, just hosted on their network).

Both are flash, both work the same way.

But if you test well to the sprint server then you tested the wireless speed without the "internet" coming into the equation which I assume is the point..

This is what I am saying about my EVDO connections. Here is an example,
The uploads are a lot of times higher than the DL, sometimes aqs much as 2X . I just don't feel the Sprint EVDO is what they advertise.

Yes I have did it on my web site via FTP. I did a 3 meg file and averaged on upload 450 which I can live with. But the Download was very un-stable and ended up being about 500-600, which Is total Bull. A long way from 1400 thats for sure.

Who is reporting 1400? the above test you linked to is ours and reports 269. The one sprint hosts is the same code, no?
so what does
»www.sprint.com/speedtest
report currently?
and, what latency can you ping sprint.com at?

This varies from day to day. SOmetimes from connection to connection. I never get even close to the same scores two times in a row. Here are the pings to Sprint.com

Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->bytes=32 time=163ms TTL=235
Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->bytes=32 time=159ms TTL=235
Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->bytes=32 time=159ms TTL=235
Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->bytes=32 time=140ms TTL=235
Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->bytes=32 time=136ms TTL=235
Pinging [65.173.211.241] with 32 bytes ->Request Timed Out

Ping statistics for above hosts:
Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 9, Lost = 1 (10% loss)
Approximate round trip times (RTT) in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 136ms, Maximum = 164ms, Average = 139ms

And you do get the same results on sequential tests with another speed test?

Yea its the same no matter where I check it. It so unpredictable its not funny. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled several times with the same results.
I almost wish I had stayed with Wildblue Satellite..
With the signal at 100% and -60 to -65dbM you would think it could maintain a steady record.

Are you still using the coffee can? Or a real yagi? My speeds are pretty consistent with EVDO. I find my speedtests on Sprint's site to be slightly more accurate. The latency usually reads slightly lower because, of course, it never leaves Sprint's network.

Very glad to see noone has posted a link to TestMy's speed test, as it's absolutely trash.

And how would you ever want WildBlue back, W4DRA? If it weren't for the speed tests, would you really say that browsing is bad? The lower latency more than makes up for the slight decrease in bandwidth. 200ms beats the 1500ms many WB users report. The speedtest I host shows some pretty weak results from WildBlue.
