| Re: Links? Justin I found that Sprint Speedtest to be all but worthless. It always says my pings are about 40-80ms. And all others say 140-200. And the test isn't accruite either. Dave --

1 edit | Re: Links? Yes I have did it on my web site via FTP. I did a 3 meg file and averaged on upload 450 which I can live with. But the Download was very un-stable and ended up being about 500-600, which Is total Bull. A long way from 1400 thats for sure. --

| Re: Links? said by justin :And you do get the same results on sequential tests with another speed test? Yea its the same no matter where I check it. It so unpredictable its not funny. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled several times with the same results. I almost wish I had stayed with Wildblue Satellite.. With the signal at 100% and -60 to -65dbM you would think it could maintain a steady record. Dave --

| Re: Links? Are you still using the coffee can? Or a real yagi? My speeds are pretty consistent with EVDO. I find my speedtests on Sprint's site to be slightly more accurate. The latency usually reads slightly lower because, of course, it never leaves Sprint's network.
Very glad to see noone has posted a link to TestMy's speed test, as it's absolutely trash.
And how would you ever want WildBlue back, W4DRA? If it weren't for the speed tests, would you really say that browsing is bad? The lower latency more than makes up for the slight decrease in bandwidth. 200ms beats the 1500ms many WB users report. The speedtest I host shows some pretty weak results from WildBlue.

| Typically, as other users have done else ware, you measure latency/ping by opening your command prompt (Win XP) and typing "ping -t www.google.com" without quotation marks. Let it run for a bit, and press ctrl+C to stop it and get a listing of results.
My personal experience has been "good" pings are around 100ms to 115ms average.

| Re: Links? I'm not seeing why the speakeasy or speedtest.net choice is a better test than our speed test, or the sprint one (which is the same, just hosted on their network).
Both are flash, both work the same way.
But if you test well to the sprint server then you tested the wireless speed without the "internet" coming into the equation which I assume is the point..

| Hey Justin
It is probably to late to make this suggestion about this link, but I'll ask anyway. If this is just for links how about removing all the conversations and just have the links, maybe group them by topic with a little side note as to what the refer to. I really like the idea, because it saves me a lot of time shifting through all the other topics of discussion for what I am looking for.

| Justin my company is deploying all over Jersey soon to be national using 597U & 598Us. These are all static sites (50). I am accumulating a ton of data related to real world Sprint coverage. We are concluding our BETA (boy that was fun) and moving on to final so this should be fun. I will contact Karl (who is a great guy) and see what we can do with the data when I get it all together. The results so far have not been what I expected. We have been deploying AT&T where Sprint has not been suitable. I will include that data as well. | |
