| Ma Bell ending time of day service
ATT (formerly Pac Hell) announced they will discontinue time of day service in California & Nevada this September. In CA the local number has always been 853-1212 or actually 853-xxxx (any four digits).
I suppose it was only a matter of time (no pun intended), since the correct time is widely available on cell phones, computers and many other electronic gadgets. Still, a little sad to see something i've gotten accustomed to go away into the dustbin of electronic history. -- watchen das blinkenlights |

| In Richmond, VA a few years back, Verizon took away the time service and the weather forecast number.

@optonline.net | I think most, if not all, the 976 numbers are history. I seem to recall the time one went away awhile ago. |
