| Ma Bell ending time of day service
ATT (formerly Pac Hell) announced they will discontinue time of day service in California & Nevada this September. In CA the local number has always been 853-1212 or actually 853-xxxx (any four digits).
I suppose it was only a matter of time (no pun intended), since the correct time is widely available on cell phones, computers and many other electronic gadgets. Still, a little sad to see something i've gotten accustomed to go away into the dustbin of electronic history.

| In Richmond, VA a few years back, Verizon took away the time service and the weather forecast number.
Times are changing and companies don't want to give anything for free anymore. But they want everything given to them.

More accuracy than most people need.

wow, times sure have changed.
i remember the 976-2626 (new york playboy line) number for 20 years ago.
i wonder if that still works.
