 | Cable modems suck? When the cable companies throttle, it proves to me the technology wasn't designed for: broadband.

Many people don't understand that Comcast (or any CATV company) cannot provide everyone the bandwidth that they advertised on a 24/7 basis at the same time.
Your brief post just inspired a funny thought. If you follow the Wi-Fi industry, you know that a few years back that all of the manufacturers were sued for advertising incredibly high wireless speeds -- and not adequately explaining that those speeds were theoretical and the actual throughput was much, much less due to the protocol and ambient conditions. Each one settled for a large amount of money that made all the lawyers rich but still did nothing for the consumer.
The situation seems the same with the CATV companies. In their race against Fiber, they are advertising speeds with numbers that really need to be followed by a big asterisk. -- Robb Topolski -= funchords.com =- Hillsboro, Oregon USA Are you affected by Comcast's RST forging? | The race against Fiber seems to be a large driving force to keep up with bandwidth demands. Most that are using the net for p2p and bittorrent traffic are probably not seeding or uploading as much as they should. Most are only leeching or downloading. This may be an issue for us to be picky who we upload to. Proper management of your computer(s) and p2p or bit client is needed to ensure a healthy connection is achieved. One solution is if you think your TOS is not being honored just switch your ISP. Its much like any consumer product, if you don't like it go somewhere else. |

 | people need to stand up, petition comcast, and make bad PR.
Charter experimented with a NetApp NetCache in my market, even though their corporate office vehemently denied the machines existence, but finally dropped it. They do give up sometimes.
