Re: At least they're straightforward

Give them that.

They contacted dslr and told them. Take a hint, Comcast!
NO, Don't take a hint Comcast. Do you realize that each Comcast customer that gets contacted for going over their bandwidth allocation used, on average, 200-600GB in a month?

If Comcast make the caps public, do you think it would be 200GB? NOPE! It would be 40-50GB.

So, DON'T TAKE A HINT COMCAST. Keep doing what you are doing. It works for the other 99% of your customers.

People say this all the time... "If they declare caps it will be really really low!"

Why, I ask. People say this, but have nothing to back it up. I think they are just pulling it out of thin air.

While knowing the CAP limit would encourage heavy users to monitor their usage, I don't see regular people suddenly modifying their Internet usage just because they found out what the Cap was.

It's not like John Q. Public is gonna suddenly go "I know let's host a bunch of P2P servers and run a public FTP site now that I know I can use up to 200GB..."

I think knowing the cap wouldn't alter regular users habits one bit. It would however, change the way they ADVERTISE their service.

I don't want a service with a 60GB cap. That's the bottom line. Comcast will not put public caps at 100GB or more. Because if htey do, then they'll have customers who will use 99GB every month, never going over.

The way comcast has it seutp is working JUST FINE.

Your service is capped already, and as I stated, just because people know the cap doesn't mean they'll increase their usage to fit. I don't think people will change their lifestyles.

My service is capped at at least 200GB or more. Show me any ISP that has 200GB caps on their users and post them on their site..

Don't know of any that are capped, except Comcast.
