Losing Faith Fast in LBDSL!

UPDATE - 8/25/07: Speed not as advertised or contracted for 6 mps: Today's measurement average, as follows:
Download Speed: 2446.8 k bits per sec 299.9 k bytes per sec

UPDATE - 8/2007: Upgraded contract service to enable 6 mps DL speed. At first, the difference was noticeable and measurable (above 4.5 mps). Past few months speed is only about half of advertised/contract speed. Pages hang up often or load very slowly. Don't ever look forward to calling for assistance, as doing so presumes too much tech knowledge on my part, which I lack. May look for an alternative service provider, sorry to say.

Sir,

Have you contacted our support department to inquire about any of your concerns? Based on your text above, I will assume no, we can't help you if you don't contact us. If you have contacted us, feel free to PM me who you spoke with, and why you feel they were not helpful.

If you don't ask for help, you can't be surprised if you don't get it. Speed of 6 mps is not contracted for; they (and everyone else) promise best efforts to give the listed speed. If your line is too noisy for 6 megabits(as mine is), there's not much to be done. They put my line in safe mode at 4 megabits, and I'm getting a pretty reliable 3300k a second in safe mode.

When first upgraded, my speeds were consistently 4700k on average. Those speeds have degraded over time to what they are today, on average of 2700-3200k. If 4700k was possible then, it's possible now. I understand that one can reasonably expect a less-than-advertised speed by approximately 20% ...but not 50%+ with pages that no longer load or hang ad-nausium! And don't lecture me about accessing help - been there, done that - who the hell needs a holier-than-thou superior attitude to deal with when looking for relief!

This user has PM'ed me and at first glance, it appears to be an Inside wiring issue. we are awaiting the end user to contact us to test DSL sync at the NID to further test the issue.

LBDSL performed DSL/NID sync this afternoon. Will provide forum update within the next few days pending my further exploration into DSL performance issues not necessarily in LBDSL's control.

My sympathies. I've a friend with pretty poor inside wiring, and these days finding someone qualified to fix it is not easy.

LBDSL/B...t - This memo comes to you shortly after conducting the NID/Line test. Curiously, all seems well again and quite up to speed! Though we discussed the possibilities of AT&T copper-line degradation and/or sub-par IW CAT line quality as potentially causative of problems prior to my call, they now seem not to be so at all. Perhaps it is conceivable that I shook a few cobwebs loose at the NID (admittedly a lay person's speculation). Please find below a history of speed & line tests indicating 6.0 upgrade (at bottom of list), period of speed degradation, and today's welcomed revival of 45-4700k+. I APPRECIATED YOUR PATIENT & COURTEOUS HELP!!!
