Proof? Examples?

So where are the speed tests from some of the users that have this? Let's see just what they are getting.

Umm, look in the forum, or in the OOL speed results, OR right at the top of this page where theres a screenshot of a download.

Also, Boost is only 9.95 more a month if you bundle voice, meaning it is 54.90 with voice and tv service, or 59.90 with voice and no tv service. It is 64.90 if you have no voice or tv. That should be corrected in the article...

OOL sucks my speeds are not even half of what they advertise. They say 30/5 but if you get 18/2.5 they say oh thats how its supposed to be and its UPTO speeds. FIOS IS BETTER !!!

In Connecticut, I'm getting exactly as advertised. My 16.5/2 service runs *pretty damn close*. 15500/1700 is about my average. I'd imagine I could easily hit 33Mbit down with Boost.

AMD, because it's just better.

Well, now you are lucky, with no caps, they dont have to guarantee any speeds.

I took his point as meaning this "uncapped" cable modem isn't that impressive. It's not like double the speed or anything. They are paying for 30/5 and getting 35/5 occasionally. I have 15/2 and sometimes get 16.2 down, big whoop. You don't see FIOS users going bonkers for better that advertised speeds or BBR writing fluff pieces.

$65 for standalone Boost doesn't sound like a great deal when FIOS costs $60 for 30/5.

30/5 FIOS is available for 60$ in like 2% of their market area. Otherwise your options are the 20/5 package or the other higher one, i dont even know what the speeds are but its like 100$ or more a month. Fios is not a better value in 99% of their market and in most of optimums market.

Except that at least 90% of OOLs area could have gotten Fios at that price. Verizon now upped the speed to 50/5, I don't know if they still offer 30/5.

As the previous poster notes, Verizon offered 30/5 for $54.95 in markets with OOL.

The FiOS 30/5 plan is no longer available to new customers in those areas. Now the choices are 20/5 for $49.95 or 50/5 for $89.95. In areas without OOL, the 50/5 plan usually runs $119.95 or more.

If you subscribe to TV, you generally get $5 off that.

Wow, barely any of that was true. I noted the price increase in my previous post. 30/5 FiOS is not gone, it is $60 ($59.99). 50/5 is $90 a month where Cablevision offers service.

Since their modems are only capable of 35 Megabits, they can't even begin to address 50/5 from FIOS until they roll out DOCSIS 3.0.

Actually, the only cheap 50/5 from FIOS in Cablevision territory is out on Long Island... everywhere else that has access to FIOS in NJ has to pay the normal, very high price for that tier, even if Optimum Online is available. I'm sure at some point Verizon will drop the price across the board in all areas, but right now folks on Long Island are in luck.

That $59.99/mo is the month-to-month price. It's $54.99 when you commit to a year.

The recent 'price increase' letters refer to the switch from one-year contract to month-to-month pricing. If you renew for a year, you maintain the $54.99 price.

»[OOL] Slight bump in speeds?

People who have received the speed bump are reporting that there are no longer any download caps after running DocsDiag.

As pointed out to you many times before, you have an issue specific to your area which has nothing to do with this speed bump. FIOS offers nothing better for the majority of OOL users.

according to majortom, Cablevision has scrapped development on the 50000/50000 narad service.

the problem with the narad stuff is that it was capable of 100/100 (cablevision had it provisioned at 50/50) but too much equipment to install.

why install all that equipment when you can wait about year more and deploy docsis 3.

I talked to a tech about 4 months ago(higher end tech). He told me that cablevision will start competing on price. so when verizon gets faster speed then cablevision will start to make their prices cheaper.

Cablevision has always been good speed wise. (cablevision also has cheap metro ethernet also 10/10 speeds for about 900 a month, that includes sla and fiber to the computer room)

The only real thing hampering cablevision is the technology. They did try with narad but it cost too much .
