Bye Bye Battlestar Gallactica

Where will all the Battlestar Gallactica fans get their fix if they miss the show on TV?

I've had a full run of Torchwood since it aired on BBC UK. I plan to reward BBC America for FINALLY airing it by buying the DVD when it gets issued in January 2008. I've also BT'ed and watched the Doctor Who Shows and bought the BBC America DVDs when released.

BTW: It will be interesting for those who have not seen Torchwood here in the States yet, when they watch DW S3E11 (on SciFi in a few weeks) which picks up right after the TW S1E13 cliffhanger (they will have no idea what is going on).

Re: Bye Bye Battlestar Gallactica

I'm more interested in seeing how much of Torchwood will have to be cut out, for the puritanical American audience, with the sheer amount of homoerotic overtone in that series.

That content probably contributed to SciFi Channel's decision to not pick up the show (and thus causing it to have to air via BBC America). You have to remember that unlike Doctor Who itself, this show aired after the end of the Children's Hours. I do not get BBC America on my Cable System so I can not tell what, if anything, they will do to edit it. You are correct about the homoerotic overtones but there is also the homoerotic content (by the end of the 1st season, everyone has had at least one homoerotic scene or affair).

Which are some of the reasons why the show rocked so hard.

I hope it gets picked up for season 2. It's like Doctor Who on the rocks, without so much of the time travel.

I have the impression that Torchwood is already in production for Season 2 and is due for a December (or so) air date on BBC UK (BBC America date is going to be based on how well Season 1 does here in the US [and possibly on the sales of the DVD in January 2008]).

good question, but I will never buy a tv show from iTunes until a few reasonable conditions are met. The one and only time I did buy a missed show from 'em, it was so horrible, I felt very ripped off for $2.

Quality needs to be good - full screen too...
No DRM, period

I think even $2 is overpriced for one episode, that'd be what $50 for 25 shows? At crap quality? No thanks. I'd rather wait for a re-run, or dvd's.

Re: Bye Bye Battlestar Gallactica

Well you can get season passes for less than the cost of buying the shows individually.

The quality is pretty good. Sure it's not HD, but it's better than what you get on the TV for shows that aren't shown in HD.

What do you mean by full screen? Full screen is often though of as having the video shown as a square, in which case the sides of the image are cut off. I don't want this and don't see why anyone else would either.

Other than that, I don't like DRM. I do feel that $2 is kind of a lot, but at the same time, I can't really think of a better price that's reasonable for both sides. It would be great if they offered the shows for free and included the ads.

Personally, I pay for DirecTV and two Tivos. I download the shows anyways, just to get them in HD. I've already payed for these shows, I'm not going to pay $2 an episode for something I can just as easily record on my Tivo.
