I'd pay $89 for 20/2, and have one of the fastest residential connections in this entire FiOS-free state.

But I doubt they'll do it any time soon either for several reasons, among which are: No competition at that level in virtually any of their territory, special customer equipment & pro install required, increased support headaches, increased more difficult maintenance, limited port availability, bandwidth hogs would be even more so ...
not to mention the fact that Embarq is very lacking on backhaul bandwidth.

I personally think what Embarq is attempting to do, as of now, is to light up as many RT's and CO's with DSL as quickly as possible so they can attain 100% coverage some time in late 2008-2009 (I'd think 2009). That way, they don't have to worry about "oh, this area can't get DSL" or "hey! No fair, we're the last town in Embarq territory to get DSL". Then, once that build-out is completely, hopefully they'll address their backhaul issue....if they don't...I don't see how they'll make it...
