That's the game you have to play on any DRM type services. If they are linked to the service in any way you run the risk of losing what you paid for. This is why I will never purchase web content with DRM.
Of course, that philosophy automatically make you one of the set of folks dubbed "thief". But personally, I think it is smart as seen by the volatility of the providers (and the fact that once I buy something, I hate being held hostage as to how and when I use it).
