If they are linked to the service in any way you run the risk of losing what you paid for. This is why I will never purchase web content with DRM. Of course, that philosophy automatically make you one of the set of folks dubbed "thief". But personally, I think it is smart as seen by the volatility of the providers (and the fact that once I buy something, I hate being held hostage as to how and when I use it).
