1 edit | No proof AT&T only picks rich neighborhoods
AT&T picks the most profitable neighborhoods for deployment Nice statement. But there is no proof offered or available that this is the case. And constant repetition doesn't make it true. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page |

I think it is a mistake to try to refute this claim. Refuting it makes it sound like cherry-picking is a bad thing, which it isn't.

And constant repetition doesn't make it true. Ok saying "AT&T picks the most profitable neighborhoods for deployment." Doesn't mean they are deploying in the RICHEST neighborhoods.
Take 2 areas, one has millionaires and has 200 residences, the other is a middle class area same size but has 3000. Which area is going to be "most profitable" for at&t? It's not the "rich" area. |

| People mistake the issues. ATT determines the relative cost to install the service in a location. Then they guess the estimated numbers of customers. Now this may suprise people but the number of customers you get in most neighborhoods isn't altogether that different. "Rich" neighborhoods just tend to be newer houses and have newer easier to upgrade lines or had new plant set to facilitate the demand for luxury regulated items like ISDN, T1, and multiple phone lines. |

"Rich" neighborhoods just tend to be newer houses and have newer easier to upgrade lines or had new plant set to facilitate the demand for luxury regulated items like ISDN, T1, and multiple phone lines. These same new neighborhoods tend to have larger properties thus there are LESS potential customers. Just because someone is a millonaire doesn't mean they are going to drop what they have now for at&t. In fact it's much more likely that a "poorer" neighborhood would since they would be more apt to want to save every penny they can. And of course "poorer" neighrborhoods have smaller properties so ther are more residences per square mile, acre or however you want to measure it. |

| I agree... a there's 2 VRADs attached to my HOA (420 homes). There's 1 VRAD in Newhall mobile home park, and covers the adjacent homes as well. The density is at least ~ 2:1 for mobile homes vs. houses here.
This is one of the reasons Verizon likes the highly populated eastern corridor (NYC/MA/CT/VA/DE, etc.) vs. the lower density states that AT&T has IL, MI, TX, CA, NV, IN, OH, TN, KY, etc.) -- Canada = Hollywood North |
