The boost for their egos was why they had to be the 1st to get the iPhones. It wasn't mostly about the product. It was more like "look at me", I got the latest, hottest toy. And $200 for that ego boost is cheaper than the cost of the psychologist they really need.

clubs:		 My phone broke a week prior to the iphone release... I would've bought a cheapola phone and gotten the iphone for $200 bucks less had I know they would cut the price so much. Historically apple never has.
