| Wireless metallic connection help needed.
I have been volunteered to install a simple metallic connection from a vendors booth to a point where that booth can be monitored for security.
I need to relay a single contact opening or closing at the booth to the main building.
Now here are the rubs.
I am forbidden from installing any wiring what so ever between the booth and the monitoring point which is about 1500 feet from the booth so I must do it wirelessly if that is possible.
The booth has no permanent power the power will be supplied by a car battery that will have to be recharged as needed. Solar may be an option but not out of my pocket at this time. There is 24/7 power at the monitoring end though.
I cannot mount any types of poles etc at the booth I can install a standard vhf/uhf/etc vehicle antenna on the booth which is made of aluminum as some of the others have them for CC verification. I can install a antenna in the attic of the receiving location.
While I will receive many thanks for the work I will be doing the costs of doing it will be out of my pocket so I would like to keep that cost as low as possible.
FWIW I have tried a few commercial wireless alarm transmitters and receivers but they failed.
Any ideas?

| I'm wondering if a wireless motion alert device like one of these can be adapated to accomplish what you're trying to do: »www.smarthome.com/_/Sensors/Cont···nav.aspx
3000 ft range and only $159.
Don't you love how people "volunteer" you to do the impossible? |

| reply to Splitpair I don't have any links right now, as I'm at work, but you could use something that opens and closes a relay (toggle) upon a DTMF tone, and a device that sends said tone on contact open/close. Link the two with a VHF or UHF radio channel. You could probably do this with a small HT at the TX site and a scanner at the RX site. |

Or even better a tone generator on a sideband which would result in less possibility for interference. |
