Re: What do you recomend as the best A/V software

The best is the one that gives good protection, but runs best or well on your own system. Some of the top AVs are KAV7, Avira Premium, NOD 32, and F-Secure.

There are more good ones, but I would choose one of those for myself, and actually run KIS7. I have used all of those and like them all.

I would recommend that you check the detection rates on »www.av-comparatives.org/

Go to "Comparatives" and then go to the August report. You will see that there are a fair number that rate Advanced +. Even some in the lower category would be good.

But in the end, detection must be balanced with how the AV runs on your own system. That is the best determination as to the best one.
I have used Avast Home, which is free, with satisfaction also, but do use it with a good AS application as a layered approach. As for the AS, SuperAntiSpyware, a-squared, and AVG 7.5 are my preferred.

There is no substitute for a good trial of each that you consider. All have free trials.

Regards,
Jerry
