Re: I wonder

So, there's a $200 price drop, but they only get $100 back. Yea, that sounds fair. I'll stick with my samsung.

The early adopters freely made the choice to purchase new technology...which always costs a premium. Early adopters are the ones that make things more affordable for the rest of us. IMO, the iPhone whiners should be extremely happy that they're getting the $100 credit.

And not in cash. So, Apple doesn't even return $100, but whatever the average cost is for a product selling for $100. So, maybe they are losing $60.

Re: I wonder

well also don't forget... AT&T is selling it not apple. so apple didn't make $200 profit necessarily then vs now. AT&T made some form of profit.

cell phone prices fluctuate by $100+ easily in the first few months of coming out. my $300 blackberry that i bought 2 months ago can now be bought for $99.

big whoop.

When the price of your Samsung drops, how much are you going to get back?

Exactly nothing, but these Apple bashers wouldn't stop bitching about money they never lost in the first place unless Apple decides to refund 200% of the difference. On second thought, they would probably find something to complain about that too.

THESE Apple bashers?

Precisely whom are you referring to?

Because the whining, cry baby early iPhone owners are the ones who caused Apple to issue the bullshit credit in the first place. Guess what folks? Apple is a business who's #1 priority is MAKING LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. If they didn't believe that the stupid "credit" would bring them more money, they wouldn't issue it. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for the stupid. People need to grow up and spend their money wisely and maybe not throw it away every time a new gadget hits the shelves.

Personally, I like to bash Apple and the fanbois because they both make me sick.

Apple for being such a disgusting, predatorial company that preys on the stupid and gullable consumers (& fanbois) who buy their overpriced products oftentimes without any actual need for a particular product - and they'll often pay any price. Yes, because phones are not available for free, right? And everyone needs amazing products such as Apple TV... LOL! - another total and complete waste of time and money. Of course, Apple also preys on the unfortunate... Who do you think makes all the shiny new gadgets they so savilly market? Can you say nearly slave-level Chinese labor boys and girls?

Also, I love how the fanbois defend the mothership. Its soooooooooooooooooooo very amusing!!!

The press is bought and owned by Apple and they fawn over the company - they practically fall over themselves to cover the news every time Steve Jobs farts.

Face facts, Apple is now and will always be behind the big boys - no matter what the fanbois or press says. It's reality. Deal with it.

And just when is Steve Jobs going to retire anyway? What a loser... Take your frickin' money and buy an island somewhere. Why continue to put pants on in the morning when you are so friggin wealthy? ?

Amen brotha!

I find it extremely amusing that the people making the loudest noise about it are those who (over)paid for this thing in the first place, not the so-called "bashers". None of them are that stupid.

And then there is the usual rush to defend Apple no matter what they've done. Ha!

So much for being customer-centric here.

Enjoy your weekend.

Everyone makes stuff in China. I bet you buy only products made in the USA or at least North America right? Apple has no choice to go to China unfortunately because everyone else is so if they want to compete on price they have to do it.

Re: I wonder

They were charging 600 dollars for a phone, how in the world were they trying to "compete on price"?

Re: I wonder

Not WITH a two year contract. Even $399 is a lot bound by a two year contract. The Itouch is going to kill off all those Iphone sales anyway.

I have to agree, I would have had an IPod a long time ago but I still can't get over the fact I am purchasing a expensive device which is very difficult to change a cycled out battery.......Oh that 160 gig Classic.....drool...drool....
But I want a 1 terabyte IPod

Who cares.. it will always be cheaper then the whyPhone anyway. It just cracks me up that those who paid all that money is crying about the difference in price. Suck it up and consider keep bragging about being the 1st to get it..

Or they could give you the huge, whopping bubkiss you're entiled to whenever any other electronics undergo price cuts? Yeesh.

Seriously, for someone who'd be verse in cutting-edge electronics, maybe they shouldn't be so b*tchy about the inevitable price drops that follow their purchases.

Hmmm, the same sort of thing happened with my Samsung Blackjack. I paid some $250 for it, but it's $99 now.

I don't even want to talk about the Cingular 8525 piece of sh*t that we paid around $400 for that went down to $99. I say it's a POS because my third one has died and needs to be exchanged.

Drastic drops in phone prices seem pretty normal to me.
