RickPremium,MVM join:2001-02-06 Waterbury, CT | Steve Jobs.. Is my hero. And I don't even own an iphone..nor any apple product for that matter.
Really folks..what he's doing is unheard of. Especially on such a widespread basis in public company corporate America.
This was a very hot new technological product and people stood in line for it. It then sold on ebay for a whole lot more.
I once bought a toshiba 486dx laptop for 4 something thousand dollars that not all that long after was made practically a doorstop pricewise by the rollout of pentium computers.
Toshiba didn't refund me that 4 grand..nor 100.00 even. And, bear in mind that 100.00 represents a pretty big percentage of the purchase price of this phone.
Yes...the price dropped quick on this phone. But so too did most people think it would as it became much more mass marketed. And so too does the price of video cards..memory..and everything else.
But, the apple lovers crowd cried..and his royal Steveness answered your call. He flew to your nest and dropped the worm right in your open beaks.

Yeah, it's fun to watch dime store elites with a little stock (or not) laugh at people that overpaid for an over-hyped product that has 30% of its price lopped two months post launch. Funny stuff.

As to the standing in line thing. Yeah, we all noticed that, too. Now we can read in the Apple forums (All Things Macintosh on this site) where the regulars watched and clapped in glee as the lines and sales went through the roof; defended the high price, and fought anyone who 'whined' about gouging. Funny thing again, now those same people are calling the early adopters "buttmonkeys," a name, it turns out, that's been used before by your friendly Mac using buddy. Some buddies there, wow.

Does the phrase "apples and oranges" have any meaning for you? We're talking 30% in 60 days and no newer, or comparable, product has been released. Get with it.

The apples thing again. When did you buy the 486? When did you buy your pentium? No, the $100 doesn't represent anything more than another sale for Apple. It's not cash; it's a credit to purchase more 'stuff' from them.

And so too does the price of video cards..memory..and everything else. More analogy. Sigh. Here's one, and I'm amazed you didn't go for the 'car' in the first place. Your 60k Lexus gets you 40k sixty days later. Think so? I've got beach front in Nevada ...

Oh, I should rest my case here and finish my coffee ... I don't own an iPhone and never will. Having said that, however, I do own Apple computers. This isn't about Apple lovers; it's about PR and very, very poor decisions on a price cut that was tantamount to a slap in the face of those who waited to buy the phone that made the stock holders now laughing at the 'whiners' a lot of money.
The salient point here is that maybe people will wake up to being corporate owned and in the hologram of the TV light (gotta have it, gotta have it now ... buy it, charge it ... pay later pay later) AND that Apple's 'fanbois' are truly the worst of the worst in this game of consumerism for stockholders sake. These guys cheer you on to buy it and then say F you if you don't like anything about it -- including watching its value drop 30% in sixty days. Here's wishing their stock values drop the same.
How you defend the phone and its price at the outset only to turn around and call the same people you cheered on to buy it then 'whiners' and everything else now is extremely telling about many things. Too many to list.

Not to mention people like you to lick his balls for ripping them off.

I guess you missed the iPod Touch announcement that effectively dropped the iPhone price. The iPod Touch is a comparable item even if you don't like it, and its in fact some ways better than the iPhone. (WiFi)

Really? Apple doesn't pay 3rd parties for their iPhone/Ipod Accessory products they just pull it out of their ass? Could have fooled me. The only limit with the $100 gift card is you have to buy it at a apple store, there are plenty of products there that aren't apple branded if you've been to one before. Apple in essence is still giving it to you for free and taking a cut.

Heres a real analogy, you buy the top of the line computer and pay some $2,500 for it..I would bet you that in 60 days something new would come out and cut that price down $500 for the model you bought. Same thing has happened here, a new product has come out 60 days later which effectively drops the iPhones value. I don't see whats so hard to understand about that. iPhone buyers pay the premium to have the latest and greatest then bitch when something else comes out that devalues their precious phone...Welcome to technology evolution. Get used to it. This is the first time I've heard of a company giving a bunch of whiners some compensation for bitching.
Its really simple, next time these idiots go and pay $600 (which I thought was ridiculously overpriced in the first place) for a product maybe they better think twice and make sure the product is worth their money. | | Titus PulloI came, I saw, I slept join:2004-06-26 kudos:1 Reviews:
