stop the crying

I bought a Westinghouse 42" 1080p LCD about 18 months ago. When I bought it, it was $2500. Now, the same TV is around 1k. In fact, two months after I bought it there was a $700 price drop.
that is the price I paid for being an early adopter. Does it suck? hell yes! Did I cry? no.

The point is, this is just how technology works. When you're an early adopter, you can bet that something greater and cheaper will be out within months. What Jobs did is UNHEARD OF, PEOPLE! He did not have to do ANYTHING. He risked the backlash from the shareholders to do what HE THOUGHT WAS RIGHT. I applaud Jobs for this move. All of the whiners need to STFU-Apple did not need to do ANYTHING.

Maybe you just proved another point, and perhaps some of Apple's early adopters now know they're "buttmonkeys" to Apple Elites® , eh? Get out and read other forums (ATM is koolaid city) and note that the reaction is trending more towards the early adopters and not the Apple Elite®

Maybe there won't be too much in the way of early adoption from this point forward (one can hope). Tell the folks in ATM with stock to put that in their f'n pipe and toke. Because something tells me that these 'next time' moments to cheer on the 'monkeys' to buy and then flip 'em the bird after they made some pocket change w/Apple stock may become a thing of the past.

Hoist by thee own petard; I so love a parade!

Really? Let me help you.

When the iPhone was released after months of hype, the lines formed and the arguments began on whether any phone (or device, for that matter) was worth waiting in line to pay what many thought was a ridiculous price.

The Apple faithful argued adamantly that (a) the phone was well worth the price and (b) that the throngs of people standing in line proved the product a huge success. Using ATM as an example, there were countless iPhone threads that inevitably invited someone in from the front page who claimed the iPhone overpriced, whereupon someone in the peanut gallery would point to the sheer number of early adopters as the proof in the pudding.

Fast-forward to the 33% lop in price 9 weeks (or 10) from release and what turns into a bunch of pissed-off customers wondering how Apple could/would reward them for standing in line to buy the phone at $600 when you can now buy it for $400. That's an unprecedented drop in price for a major release product by a company that claims sales numbers had nothing to do with their decision to lop the price by a third.

Back to ATM. The Elite® begin their defense of this price drop on Apple's part by referring to the early adopters used as reason to support the phone 10 weeks prior as "buttmonkeys" -- in other words, they threw them under the bus.

My point is/was is that you can't have it both ways. You can't cheer on the early adopters because you're an Apple fan or own stock or whatever, and then turn around and call early adopters "buttmonkeys" after the fact and expect the buttmonkeys to keep standing in line or being early adopters of anything with an Apple name.

Seems pretty simple to me: if you paid $600 for an iPhone then you're a worthy ButtMonkey according to the Apple Elite® Doesn't that seem like a contradiction in terms at the least?

Read a few for yourself:
