Still, it is one I personally experienced many, many years ago.<br><br>Was being driven nuts (as was IBM) by persistent and random failures in the control unit that supported our terminals. (Mainframe environment)<br><br>Long (six months) story short - the company had a massive and very old overhead crane the motors of which, when operated, happily arced to ground. Of course, we 'office drones' were unaware of the timing relationship. <br><br>That's right - the crane was 'bouncing' the ground plane itself for the entire complex!<br><br>Moral - ensure your ground really is absolutely grounded and that nothing is introducing 'spikes' into it.    ]]></description>
