| Roadtrip! Where to stay north of LA?
It's roadtrip time again. This time we're going up to Berkeley to visit my sis-in-law, SF, and surrounding areas.
We were planning on leaving first thing in the AM, but we are also considering leaving the night before and getting a couple of hours past LA to beat the AM traffic.
Do you guys have any suggestions on possible places to stay and enjoy? We'd probably be leaving around 8pm. -- [[Your signature here]] |

If you see a Black Bear Diner on the way you won't be disappointed with your meal. |

1 edit | reply to nightdesigns Okay, Bakersfield is probably one of your worst options.
Why not take the 101 all the way up the coast?
Stay in San Luis Obispo or something. Going up the valley, you see nothing pretty (other than farmland, if you think that is pretty)
Good luck on your road trip! |

| reply to nightdesigns I agree with captain on this one. Just leave early, at 4 - 5AM (to avoid traffic up North). If you take the 101 you're going to add about ~55 additional miles and an extra hour and a half drive time (you have to love the Google maps drag a drop route change feature). »maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&g···z=8&om=1
As for where to stay? It's out of the way, but on the way back you may want to visit if not stay the night in Big Sur. You could then take the 1 to the 101 and stop at Hurst Castle on the way. |
