| Well Just Got my First Bandwidth Notice From Comcast.. LOL well according to the ever so rude person I talked to at Comcast Customer Assurance and Policy Observance department of Comcast I used 415GB of Bandwidth during the month of August.
Apparently I was using excessive Bandwidth LOL.. well apparently yea?
So 400gb must be too much. So now I drop down to 300gb and see if that is still too much.

I'm not sure what my figures are but I don't see me using my HSI past the 100 gig range... |

As malibumaxx suggested, I'd go below 300gig as well and even dramatically cut back your usage, at least for a couple months.
If you're on their radar screen now, no telling where they might pull the plug. And remember, the clock probably started counting again a few days ago..allowing for mail time and all.
What I haven't seen much if anything of around here is anyone being successful in getting the service back if they pull the plug on you. And so, unless you want to risk that..I'd take a vacation from big downloads for a few weeks to let things cool off.

I don't recall who, but someone posted here awhile back who got a call and then used LESS THAN 300gigs..and maybe only 200gigs the next month..and STILL had the plug pulled on them.
And so, unless someone wants to take that chance..I think once you hit their radar it might be prudent to take it to 200 gigs or even less for at least a couple of months.

As you can see on the screenshots page..it keeps track of downloads/uploads even by the day. It would be good to keep that in case you need to fight them on this.
The program comes with a 30 day trial. After that..I guess it's 19.95.
Still, not a bad deal.

I wouldn't worry about Youtube adding up anything, I watch videos on Youtube daily, download movies / shows, etc on Bittorrent, constantly reloading pages, etc and I rarely break 60GB.... Most of these guys using 300+ GB are upto some serious illegal activity such as massively downloading DVD-R rips from newsgroups and such.

And again, I'd make sure you keep that running as proof of what you've downloaded/uploaded in the event they come back at you and cut you off.
It would make for some pretty good evidence I think, especially if your number and theirs varied by very much.
I'd even bet you it would win a court case for you if it ever came to that. You'd be very proactive in trying to manage this while Comcast couldn't even say that they ever gave you any #'s to work with...much less a way to measure it.
In looking at this, I see it also has an alarm type feature to warn if you're going over a certain amount in a given period of time. That's a nice feature as well.
One other benefit of this would be if someones running a network, it would let them see if anyone is maybe stealing their connection.
Heck..I might buy this myself now that I'm looking at it.

see that is me or was me now i will be stopping i just did not know i was doing that much 400 gb i own 2 320 ones and at the most have 220 left on both of them so i don't know where they got that though most of what i download i erase after i watch it only the best movies i put on dvd. Rick i will keep that on my computer just for reference. |

That would be too new for my liking.
DU meter has been around a long time and IMO..would be better for someone to cite as their evidence should push come to shove.
Just my .02 cents worth.

Just a note on bandwidth usage.
You don't have to be doing illegal activities to download ~400GB a month these days.
Take, for instance, game consoles and their downloads.
If you were a heavy buyer on the Xbox 360 Video Marketplace, you might be renting HD movies and buying HD TV shows. These videos are often over 2GB in size. If you did this often, coupled with other things like game demos, you could easily rank up 400GB or more in a single month.
I just hope, some time in the future, these content sellers, like MS, Sony, and Apple, go against the ISPs for taking away their best customers. |
