Configuring a wrt54g for pppoe

Hey all, I had verizon previously and my router was set up to use pppoe to authenticate and the modem was in bridge mode. Now I'm in a new place and have Verizon Avenue. There is no modem in the room, just a lan plug. I'm trying to reconfigure the router and it doesn't want to hook on to things. I type my user id and password and cloned my mac address. Any ideas for what to try?
