rlmars posted : Even though there is a thread in security products, I though I would post here also for those thinking about upgrading NAV or NISS

Installing NAV 2008 over 2007---Works fine!

I purchased NAV 2008 and downloaded the installer. Before I could uninstall NAV2007 or use the Norton removal tool, the installer started automatically. (Win XP PRO SP2 all updates.) I did turn off auto protect, however.

It took a few minutes, and rebooted.

Everything went well, after the reboot the installation finished and installed my key and also in my Norton account. Was not necessary to uninstall NAV 2007. I believe the installer does that before it installs the 2008 product.

Note: It also started the new subscription on the day my old one expired... a few days after the install: so I did not lose any time on the new account

BTW, I made a CD of the installer files and a text file that contains my product key. I also copied the installer files and the key text from the documents and settings file (all users Symantec temporary)to a utilities install folder for an additional backup.
