You are right, no roll-over minutes like Cingular/AT&T. Had Cingular through my employer. Finally went with Verizon on the Family Plan which does offer shared minutes. I ended up carrying 2 phones...work/home. Now my Vzn contract is up, wanted to go to Cingular since AT&T took over cuz I heard more towers and tower power and I can add it to my U-verse or phone bundle. Good to learn now that service has not improved before I switch. Besides, On-Star uses Vzn and I can add it onto my Family Plan for $9.95 with an extra 100 minutes, so may stick with Vzn for now (new car).
I thought I heard something about a common tower provider and separate phone companies. Anyone hear that? Is it likely?

Yeah, it's funny. I'm in St Louis, and the people that I'm talking to that drop the MOST calls all have AT&T. One knows where his "dead areas" are and warns me when he is approaching one. Another friend dropped a call the other day sitting in a drive-up (not moving) on a major road.

I have Sprint and it is EXTREMELY rare for me to drop a call, and I can't specifically name a "known" dead spot in St Louis.

We were recently in the mountains in Colorado... while I was roaming sometimes, my phone worked everytime I tried to make a call. Two people with me with AT&T could not call from a decent sized mountain town.

Wouldn't that be dropped four times in the same conversation? Wouldn't being dropped necessitate a new call???

The one thing Verizon doesn't have is rollover minutes.. which is why we switched from Verizon. Tired of getting a bill once a year that was $200+'s. Always seems to be one month where my wife goes crazy. All the rest we'll use less than 300mins.

Ditto ditto. This morning I got dropped four times during a single call. The service has been crappy for the past three or four months now. My family and I are seriously looking at alternatives even though we've been with Cingular for nearly three years.

I would, but at $175 per line I have an issue coughing up $350 to drop a service that has sucks now. I am close though to them saying they will wave the fee.

The plans on Verizon are similar to what we have now, but I was not impressed with the Verizon phone lineup.

No kidding. I've had tons of dropped calls too, and have encountered more dead spots in the last 3 or 4 months than I did in the first 12 or 13 months of me having their service. Their service is just awful now...for me.
Same here! I have been a customer since the Bellsouth days and never had the issues. Since June or so things have gone downhill rapidly.

Looking on their coverage maps, the areas that even show "moderate" coverage we have zero signal. I have been working with them to do network tests, etc but nothing. My wife is ready to drop them soon.
