And Speakeasy's dedication to ignoring residential customers is official (as if there was any doubt). I especially love these parts:
If we do anything for residential, we're going to need to find a way to bundle voice in there, and potentially other things with our new parent Best Buy Later, referring to Best Buy:
They're basically leaving us alone and letting us execute. You can't lay the residential issue at BBs feet while claiming they're leaving you alone, Bruce... |

| I read it quite differently - residential means no to very little profit so they need to subsidize the residential fees with other services and naturally they would want to partner with BB. To me - it does not mean that BB is forcing them out of residential - I think they already knew and acknowledged that residential makes no to little money in the article... |

| Correct.
This is really just resold Covad business class ADSL2+, so to justify taking the loss on offering it at a lower price to residential customers, he's saying they'd have to make up their money by bundling in other services....
It's definitely a much different company, but I'm not sure how much of their evolution toward small business was under their control. And this comes from a guy who used to play Counterstrike with Mike Apgar and Ed Bender, so I understand what's been lost..... |

And yes, they've left us alone as far as i can see. |

| At the prices Speakeasy charges residential customers, I can't imagine they're taking a loss. The "fees" alone should protect the profit margin.
I got a "business" class account from LB DSL for $30 a month less, 1/3 better speed, and better customer service. And Lightning is not the only good alternative. |
