I read my inserts religeously- I never saw the deal I wound up getting, though I did see the $129 deal several times. Several times a week, these days. But, I like my phone service to be on phone lines, not VOIP, so I stick with Verizon copper. So Triple Play is not for me. |

| reply to owlyn Fiberguy... how do I get a job at Comcast PR? With their high rates, they probably pay you a lot.
Look, Verizon could raise their rates plenty more, and they still wouldn't be as expensive as Comcast. Plus more channels, plus better PQ, plus widgets, plus better core technology... get my drift? And, the bottom line is that FiOS won't get too expensive or people will migrate back to Comcast.
It's simplistic to say "one is coax, one is fiber." Fine. If Comcast's "coax" could deliver to my home the HD channels I want, an NYC RSN that they co-own in HD full-time, both NYC and Philadelphia locals in HD, fine. But they can't. FiOS, on the other hand, can. Why would I not switch? Because someone on a message board had a billing problem? This is a message board FOR people who are having problems. Of course people will bring up problems when they arise!
The bottom line is that it's simply not my problem that Comcast doesn't have enough bandwidth, or that they're trying to install CDV, or that they're busy figuring out how to delete analogs, blah, blah bah. That's really not my problem. Give me my HD channels. Now. I want them. Or I switch. I don't owe Comcast any loyalty for ripping myself and my neighbors off with their monopoly over the last decade. |

Care to retract your statement now?
Verizon is still Verizon.. FiOS is not a company, it's a product of the company called VERIZON.. I guess the classic company, Verizon, treats the copper customers poorly but the fiber side of the business the customer is treated better?

| reply to fiberguy said by fiberguy :Yea... Verizon is certainly holding up to that standard, now aren't they? Their prices are going up, they are rearing their ugly head with customer service issues (being they are the same customer service as always)... the only difference between the two company is one is fiber, one is fiber/coax. Same same. Keep buying into the hype. It goes much deeper then you think.. If you're to blind or stubborn to search out correct information then that's on you. -- WRTSL54GS v2 + WRT54G v2 |

| reply to owlyn Cool. Great deal. I have the same package for $129 w/ phone service, but it's within a contract. FiOS will be coming here probably within the next year, so they wanted to undercut them. Not bad at all, by the time FiOS comes I can switch if I choose.
For me, it's all about HD channels. If Verizon has more, including both sets of locals in HD (NYC and PHL), I'll switch. If Comcast launches CDV or figures HD out by then somehow and offers a good price, I could be persuaded to stay. |

I'm waiting for Verizon to work out the bugs, increase their on demand offerings, and get my local PEG channels on the air. Lots of complaints in the Verizon FIOS forum as well. It's just a matter of time. |

| I live in a Verizon FIOS area, so Comcast is having to step up to the plate to compete. 6 months ago, I called, and told them I was thinking about switching. I gave the the price for the same services if I went with Verizon- they matched the price for 6 months. The 6 months is up (just got my new bill), so I called. I followed the voice prompt menu as if I was going to discontinue service (which I think the the trick to the deal). Told the rep the complete truth- called 6 months ago... deal is up now... can you continue the deal? Well, here's the deal I got: exact same service I have now, except for a slight rearrangement of my premiums. I went from HBO, SHO, TMC to HBO, SHO, and STARZ, which was fine with me. Under the special 6 month deal that ended, I was paying $96.33 including taxes and fees. This price included an HBO promotion for $6.48/month and a SHO promotion for $10/month, both to expire in another 6 months. The new price would have been $111.33 (the $15.00 discount for 6 month deal ended). The price under the new deal will be $84.84/month for 12 months. No contract needed. My service also includes Digital Preferred, DVR, and an extra box.
Seems like a really good deal. I'm paying less than I was before, and getting a few more channels (STARZ vs TMC, which matters not to me, as neither one has great movies). Plus, I'm in an area that is getting 5 more HD (NGEO, FOOD, HGTV, NFL, A&E) and 2 more Digital Classic Channels (Fuse and WE). |
