| Pap2v2 - trixbox CID and one other problem
Hello guys,
I had given up on the Pap2v2 as a useful device and hadn't looked at these thread in a while. I have to say great job on figuring out the tricks to get it to register to asterisk. Thanks for all the hard work!
Now that it's registered (both lines) and mostly working I wanted see if there's a fix for couple of problems.
1. CID is not working reliably. About 50% of time it says "incomplete data." Are there settings that I can play with?
2. When I answer a call it seems to make a slight buzzing sound for about a second or two and during the buzz, no one can hear me and I can't hear the other party. Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

| reply to elvisk Hi Elvisk, I am also in a similar situation, my pap2v2 registers to trixbox for about 4 hours and then goes off line. I have to power cycle the pap2v2 to make it register again, would you please share your settings for trixbox and pap2v2 to make it work. Thanks |

| Well, the noise that you are experiencing may be on the Asterisk machine that you are running, i have seen this problem and it was the IRQ hard drive issue. You get a very sharp and noisy sound on the phone.
Is the pap2v2 a remote extension or a local extension?
The settings should be quit simple.

| pbxdude29,
It's a local extension and the noise/CID issues did not exist with a Pap2 version 1. Since this issue was not there with the older pap2, I suspect that it's not an IRQ issue. Any other ideas? Could it be a ring voltage issue?
tommy13v,
What are the proper settings for the ring voltage for the Pap2v2? Can I just change the values in these fields and send them via xml? Can I just use 90 like the version 1?
Thanks.

| reply to arsh arsh,
1.00.22 FW
the trick was to register line 1 to the asterisk box using the ip address and line 2 via a different dns address.
Also use the following from this thread »[General] The new PAP2 v2.0 context=default host=dynamic type=friend mailbox=99 callerid="House Line 1" username=91 secret=1234 rfc2833compensate = yes nat=route dtmfmode=rfc2833 insecure=port,invite
good luck |

| Elvisk, Thanks for the reply, I already tried these settings beside the "rfc2833compensate=yes" because I have read on this forum that this parameter is only supported on asterisk 1.4 not in asterisk 1.2. I am also running the firmware version:1.00.13 on the pap2v2, do I have to upgrade to ver:1.00.22 to make this work.I will try these settings anyway. Thanks.

| mazilo, Thanks for the heads up, the unit is unlocked at 1.00.13 and I do have the encryption key for that. I want to make this unit work with my trixbox 1.2.3, but I am having trouble to keep the unit registered to trixbox, it disappears from the network every 4 to 5 hours, and then I have to power cycle the unit. I did not do any change to the xml file, I just configured the unit via web browser, so I am not sure if I have to do the changes in xml file and then feed the file via tftp or its ok like that. In case if it is necessary to do the changes in the xml file how I can grab the xml file from the unit, the xml file I downloaded from the provider is for firmware ver:1.00.22. Thanks for the help.

| said by arsh :..., it disappears from the network every 4 to 5 hours, and then I have to power cycle the unit. I had had that problem when testing with my PAP2v2 before. I also noticed my Uniden UIP1869V IP Phone / router also had similar problem until I set both the Polling Interval and Image Download Retry Interval options, under the Provisioning menu, to 0. I haven't tested this on my PAP2v2, yet; however, I thought it won't hurt if you give it a try. Let us know if this will help. |
