| [speed/latency] max download speed at 15KB/s
since a few days ago, I've been getting very slow download speeds (max of 15KB/s) and even webpages load noticeably much slower than they used to.
my upload speeds are fine though, averaging at 90KB/s.
i was upgraded in the spring of this year from 1.5Mb to a 3Mb connection and have been getting good download speeds until recently.
can someone help me find out what's the cause? tia |

| It's just a guess. But it's (most likely) not a network problem because you are not syncing at the correct rates and your modem stats are far from good. So that leaves a problem with the physical line.
The NID is a grey box around where the phone line enters your house. If you live in an apartment, you most likely don't have access. Inside, there is usually a test jack. Plugging in here disconnects all inside wiring, and helps rule out any wiring issues that you are responsible for. |

do you know a good number to call or what to do in order to convince them to send out a technician? |

| Secure as encrypted, no. But no one but you and the Verizon people have access to the thread. The most I think they've ever asked for is your name and phone number and the same things we ask here. As far as calling, sorry, have fun talking to "Randy" or "Bob" in India at 1-800-567-6789. If you are lucky, maybe you'll get Canada. At least most of them speak passable English. |
