The next version is in the works, it will be released in 2008 ans will be the first EPG that will work on all current Comcast STB types including, PACE, SA, Moto, Panny, Samsung, and one other brand, that I can not remember right now.

Yeah and the one screenshot I found online looks like it's 16:9 (HD) aspect ratio.

Here's a quick story:

"remote-recording capability will be part of the A26 release, which is currently scheduled to be available in early 2008."

Nice nice it's about time we get a guide made for HDTV's. Make use of that room to the left and right...

This is the only one I can find. Sure looks like a wide aspect ratio to me...

Early 2008...sure, I'll believe it when I see it after all the ballyhoo about releasing the TIVO software in 2007. I'm beginning to wonder if that will ever happen.

Yeah exactly.

I wonder which one will be out first though? The new I-Guide, or the Tivo software?

I'll try the Tivo software for sure, but when the new I-Guide comes out I'd like to give that a go as well. AFAIK, the new Tivo software still does not make use of a 16:9 HD Display for it's graphical interface.

If the new TV Guide has all of this data mining features, remote recording, suggestions, user profiles, and a true 16:9 HD interface, it could really give the Tivo software a run for it's money.

Is that the Java-written guide to be placed on top of OCAP? I remember reading a year ago about a completely Java written guide that required a middleware to be developed so it would run on Moto boxes... SA and Pace can run Java natively (if I remember it all correctly).

I believe you are correct, that the new I-Guide is being written entirely in Java, making it able to run on all of Comcast's STBs.

I would think Java would help bring more robust applications to the platform. More talented programmers know Java than the broadcom assembly language.

Let's just hope it can't catch a java virus

Anyway the real question is what comes first. The Tivo software or the new I-Guide ? Really now, what do you think will be available first and when?

Well for us SA users, it'll be the I-Guide first I'm almost certain. Either way, I want something prettier than SARA running on my box. Unlike the Starship song, "SARA, SARA, "any"time is a good time for goodbye".

....That was incredibly corny, I know.

depending where you are, the TiVo guide will launch before A26. I can guarantee that the TiVo guide will be out before the year is up.

I think they decided to skip this version, and forego offering up A25 as the first version of I-Guide on SA. I guess A26 is such a huge leap over A25, it's worth skipping it.

This may be a dumb question, but what are you talkint about when you say "before A26 or A25"?
