Is it possible have SIP URI for GrandCentral number?

Hi,

Is there anyway to have SIP URI assigned to GrandCentral or any other arbitrary number? I want to be able to call US number via sip:number@host.com, is it possible?

Sort of.....

Unless there is a VoIP provider that provides a SIP URI, and allows third parties to reach that SIP URI most other numbers do not come with SIP URIs attached.

However, calling a number via SIP is a matter of finding a provider that offers free calls to that Number....

Eg. PhoneGnome offers free calls to all numbers you manage to register with them (unfortunately GC numbers can't be registered with PhoneGnome due to some DTMF issues)

Eg. The Betamax services offer free calls to certain countries for a top every so many months.

In Short:
-Find a VoIP provider that will let you call that number for free or cheap
-Create a forwarding route (either get yourself a Premium VoXalot account or check out this »www.scopezoom.com/guide5.htm , however in the case of a GC number you'd have to substitute Phonegnome with something else)

One thing to consider: What is the reason behind the need to call a number via SIP, is this a number you control/own (in that case maybe an ENum record at e164.org will be good enough)

Maybe I don't understand your question.

If you wish to obtain an inbound number from someone and then when that number receives a call have it forward the call to your voip ata via a sip uri it is possible to do that. You had another recent thread that seemed to deal with this subject.

I'm not knowledgeable about Grand Central, however I know you can get an inbound number from IPKall and forward that number via sip uri directly to your ata, even though you have the ata registered to someone else. I have done that. You do not have to have a voip provider involved in forwarding the call.
