Bar in New Haven does not get the credit it deserves with all of the other famous places here. |

1 edit | reply to Rick said by Rick :Actually, there WAS a place like I'm talking about here in Ct. but for some as of yet undiscovered reason, they recently CLOSED! And was I ever pissed off because I drove to Danbury only to find that out. Well, the trip was for a couple other things as well, but surely that was on the must stop at them agenda as well. And honestly, I don't even know what their name was either. Maybe brick oven pizza or something like that? Or, maybe that was what they cooked their pizza in. Anyways..it was on newtown road in the same little plaza that Boston market is in..across from Burger King...if anyone can help me out on the name. Or..WHY they closed..or where the heck the pizza guy went. He was a real pro and written up many times I guess in the media. Strange how the business just didn't make it, being so good. that start out as a little caesars but the one that made the news is famous joe i believe who move to white street.
my choose is bethel pizza house |

| reply to signmeuptoo A couple of places I go to in Wallyworld are these:
Wallingford Pizza - The make good pizza, including the large rectangular party pizza there. They also have decent dinners as well. I usually only order delivery, so I don't know what the inside is like.
Trackside Pizza - A good place for brick oven pizza. The pizzas are not bad, but I do like the Steak and Cheese subs they make there. They don't deliver though, but it is worth the trip to me IMHO. BTW, Trackside is in an old subway rail car right next to the tracks in Wallyworld. |

I actually had the chicken pizza from there yesterday. This is the first time I've had pizza from the Manchester Pepe's. I've had the New Haven Pepe's too many times to count.
It may have been an off day or something, but I didn't think the pizza was nearly as good as the New Haven pizza. I thought the crust was much thicker. I'll have to try it again sometime.
Just my opinion! |

Was there again tonight and it was great. However i do hope they will update their service level for those who eat in. |

| reply to signmeuptoo I just stumbled upon a new pizza place in manchester called Mulberry Street Pizza. Apparently he had some hand in Randy's Wooster St Pizza in Manchester when it first opened, but it didn't work out from what I hear. So he opened his own place on south main heading towards glastonbury, near Royal Ice Cream, and I he's working on moving into a building on main street proper. Great new haven style thin crust pizza with lots of original menu items. It's on my list now, that's for darn sure! |

| reply to signmeuptoo I am glad I started this thread. I am headed back up to CT on Thursday 7/24/08, which I think is more than a year since I started this thread IIRC.
I really want to go to Pepes again, but with all the great suggestions here, and all the other amazing restaurants in CT, I am fit to be tied, so I started a new thread. I get to go to the establishment of my choice as a late birthday present.
I do hope that one day I find a way to move back home. Sometimes you just realize that there just is no place like home, I know what Dorothy was talking about! I know people here in TN that can't imagine moving away from home either, so it must have to do with your roots. I yearn to see all my school day buddies and, erm, former gf, just to say hi!

| reply to signmeuptoo I grew up in CT and so got spoiled in expecting true NY style quality from pizza. I can't believe nobody's mentioned Rocco's in Brookfield (right off route 7). Tied with Lombardi's as far as my personal pizza favorites go. Everytime I'm in the area I make it a point to get a pie there.
Unfortunately I've yet to find anything out here in CA that remotely compares.. it seems the greatest pizza is confined to the NYC tri-state area. Oh well, at least we got In-N-Out here (best burgers and fries ever). |
