PapaJohn's in Danbury is so darned easy to order from online.

The pizza is decent, not great, but acceptable. Selection, price, delivery, and ease of ordering are all amazingly good. It's nice to pick your options on a web site.

I once went to one of the Pepe's "franchise" at Bridgeport. My first impression was that the place/environment was different than the original New Haven. But one major downside was the pizza taste, which was totally different than the original we know. The pizza taste was more like "regular" pizza instead of "the Pepe" pizza.

I think Danbury started out in 1685 as Swampfield by early settlers with absolutely no marketing concept and a very literal view of what they saw. Shortly after in 1687 the British colonial powers that be corrected the Swampfield atrocity and named the then town Danbury ... but finally we are getting a Pepe's, our old Swampfield settlers would be so proud. :)

DANBURY -- Lovers of Frank Pepe's Pizza in the region won't have to travel much farther to get a slice of their favorite pie.

Owners of the popular New Haven pizzeria have submitted plans with the city to open a Frank Pepe Pizzeria on Federal Road near the Harley-Davidson store.

The plans call for a restaurant with enough seating for nearly 70 customers. The application still needs to be reviewed by building officials.

The plans also call for a large brick oven to be constructed inside the building. The exterior, meanwhile, will be upgraded with brick veneer and copper flashing.

Charles Troccolo, the owner of the building, said he believes the pizzeria could be very successful at the location, which is near Interstate 84. He declined to comment on when the restaurant might open its doors.

Besides for the original New Haven location, Pepe's Pizza also has locations in Fairfield, Manchester, Yonkers NY and at the Mohegan Sun casino.

Officials with the popular pizza restaurant were not immediately available for comment.

I obviously prefer my own NY Style pizzas I make.

But, Palmeri's isn't bad in Putnam. Though, usually cheese is odd and isn't truely NY Style. Often pizza is not cooked enough. The new place Nuccios in Dayville wasn't good, I had to scrape the flour off the bottom of my pizza.

Pizza Pizzaz, I didn't like. To those who say Pizza Pizzaz in Putnam, I think you mean Pyzzz. Which is ok, but not as good as it used to be. The other Pizza Pizzazz is in Danielson.

For Greek, I like Johnny's in Brooklyn, Johnny himself is of course awesome and a nice guy, sad I hear they will retire in a few years and none of their kids wanna take over. It's not that puffy bland crust most have.

I want to try Willington Pizza House, it sounds ok and the second location is on my way home from work. I'll try Athens in Putnam too. Zoe's is right out. Unfortunately I've yet to find anything out here in CA that remotely compares.. it seems the greatest pizza is confined to the NYC tri-state area. I really want to go to Pepes again, but with all the great suggestions here, and all the other amazing restaurants in CT, I am fit to be tied, so I started a new thread. I get to go to the establishment of my choice as a late birthday present.

I do hope that one day I find a way to move back home. Sometimes you just realize that there just is no place like home, I know what Dorothy was talking about! I know people here in TN that can't imagine moving away from home either, so it must have to do with your roots. I yearn to see all my school day buddies and, erm, former gf, just to say hi!
