| Getting 12MPS from Sprint Mobile Broadband EVDO RevA. Well, that's my D/L speed at night time anyway and I am way in the boonies but close to an Interstate. Using a Sierra Wireless 595U.
The WISP service in my area offers a 1.5Mps Symmetrical connection if I use a Yagi.
I get 1.5Mps d/L & 500kps U/L during most of the day & I am happy. I left WB satellite (didn't everybody leave them!) Before that I had Starband. Before that I had Dialup.
Looking forward to 4G 100MPS service; but even half that speed would make me happy as long as the latency is under a 100ms.
Folks in the cities don't realize how good it is to have options. Setting up a 4G network wil force competion from Verizon & ATT and even the Satellite companies to step up their technology or get out of the way.Believe the telecoms would then bend over backwards to get Fiber to the Home implemented. Everyone except Verizon has been dragging their feet on putting in major broadband changes. | |
