| Nice to see formal plans for 4G announced by the Boyz in Red
I'm glad to see forward traction towards a common standard between the two giants. Although complete integration may take 5+ years, we may see the initial benefits much sooner.
Something tells me that Voda may have a lot under their sleeves. With a compatible network, there is no reason why they wouldn't want to gain 100% full control of the venture they have with Verizon when the time is right.
The completion of the converged LTE platform comes around a time when market saturation should really kick into gear and our beloved US monster carriers will have to fight tooth and nail to steal eachother's customers away. Gone will be the days where we see 1+ million new subs per quarter.
Verizon was smart to announce this now. This will persuade developers to build the platform at more competitive rates now that such a large mobile population is committing to it. They were previously wary about joining LTE due to cost constraints involved between the CDMA > LTE transition. | |
