We make a lot more than $50 a month. Perhaps those who want such things could push to do it themselves, without any government involvement. That's the only way things get done in this country anyway.

But, the fact that we are so generous to a former enemy is more irrefutable proof that the USA is indeed the greatest country in the world.

Please, that fact our government will help anyone and everyone even enemies, more than it's own people, speaks volumes.

Maybe people here don't need help. Who in the USA makes $50 a month? Do we have people dying in the streets because of starvation? Most "poor" in this country have it better than most people on this planet.

There are a lot of people who come to this country with barely the clothes on their backs and nothing in their pockets but they are able to work hard and be successful. Some people here don't want to be bothered with putting forth the effort to help themselves even though opportunities for success are abundant here. Why should those people be helped?

Re: But...

If they are so poor that they are starving in the streets then why are we not helping feed them vs. giving them WiMax. First learn to feed your self and then get the perks of not having to struggle for food. So I guess they can afford PC's but can not afford to eat. I hate seeing tax money that I worked for get yanked away from me to do non life substaining projects in other countries. Im all for helping people survive but they do not need WiMax to be able to farm the land and raise cattle.

Maybe they are able to do that already?

Re: But...

maybe so but you were the one who took it to starving in the streets. no biggy just think they should feed them first and this is goign off of you saying that they are starving in the streets is all.

Um I have a friend that lives out in the boonies and can either only get dial-up or crappy satelite, yet let's help those that tried to kill my father, uncles and the rest of their generation.

There's nothing stopping you from investing your own money with your friend to build a broadband operation.

So we shouldn't have invested the resources needed to rebuild Germany, Italy and Japan after World War 2 either?

Only if people insist the government do it. Private citizens have set up their own ventures to provide Internet access without running into trouble with phone and cable companies.

"generous", what are you talking about? Devastating a country for 30 years (1954 - 1975) and causing the 2 million death toll are what you call generous? Invading a poor country that had no means or intention to affect the US economically nor geographically is not generous!

The Japaneese have only occupied Vietnam for a few months during the Wolrd War II and after the war, then they paid billions dollars to help rebuild Vietnam after the war.

Helping building some WI-Max or WiFi spots here and there in the country that the US killed million people and bringing the country back to the stone age are NOT generous at all!

I think you have to re-define the word "Generous" in your vocabulary or should I assume you did not pass the first or second grade at all. Or if you had college, I suggest you should re-take the history course.

Retake math.

Did you forget the 3 million who died after Congress cut the funding for the war.
