Conast Arris Modem and Buffalo Hp-54 wireless router problem

Guys

I just got Comcast Triple Play Package and received the Arris 402 modem. When I directly connect my laptop with an ethernet cable to the Arris I get a speed of almost 20mgs (PowerBoost I assume) but when I connect the Arris to my Buffalo wireless router, I get a connection but half the speed I was getting connecting directly to the Arris. What s up with this. I am running Windows Vista on my laptop and Windows XP on my desktop

This individual seems to have similar problems with buffalo products.
