Great. More places for people to user their Blackberries. Fan-freakin-tastic. 
As for laptops, people are going to expect their wireless broadband connections to work once this is in place, since they do run off the cellular networks. So yeah, some people will be pounding away on their laptops on the platforms.
I can understand needing to - grab or send that presentation you forgot, shoot off that email, or if you get that "we're going be stuck in the tunnel for a long time" feeling, to download some music or videos to pass the time.
I can't say I understand why you would want to just surf in one of the most public places there are.
In-station news reports with web cam feeds might be come popular though.
