| AT&T and Cingular... So, what then becomes of this marriage? If I'm not mistaken, one of AT&T commitments in order to receive FCC approval was that broadband would be reachable to 100% of the residential units in AT&T territory by the end of 2007. They've skated by in the past, thanks to one of the little footnotes mentioning satellite as broadband. Now what? I can't imagine EDGE being rolled out here. They haven't even covered Grand Rapids, let alone any of the corridors between GR and Lansing, and GR and Kalamazoo. Perhaps that's the explanation to the dozens of AT&T vans I've been spotting in the wild just in my neighborhood alone? -- Your mouse has moved. | Verizon's EVDO service is available and Sprint has their EVDO here as well, but AT&T doesn't seem to have any interest in West Michigan. For either DSL or 3G. AT&T just, as of about a month ago, started accepting orders for cell service in my area. These are done through partner carriers however. Fastest growing area of the entire state, and it would appear that many here won't be able to get even satellite internet (, save HughesNet.) Guess we should all just move to areas with cable and DSL. -- Your mouse has moved. Windows NT must be restarted for the change to take effect. Reboot now? |
