[Outlook] Outlook Express Error. How to fix?

My messages are going out.  But when the transfer is complete I receive an error message, with no error info.

This is a big problem since the message sits in the "outgoing" folder and gets sent out a million times.

Also the message never gets fed into the "sent" folder.

Anyone seen this problem before?

I compressed the files/folders and that didn't help.

I currently watch the sending and when it errors out I move the message to the "drafts" box.  My friends don't want to receive my message a million times.  I have had that complaint.

Thank you for your idea.

I was thinking of moving all the data and starting fresh.  Then importing the data in the new folders.

The step in OLXP is

1. MSG goes to outbox
2. MSG is sent
3. MSG is moved to sent box (a delete in outbox and a paste in sent box).

It looks like, outbox is having problem deleting the MSG. May consider, delete the entire outbox.dbx file, OLXP will recreate a blank & clean one next time when lauched.

1. MSG is written, I click SEND.
2. MSG goes to outbox, and I click to see the sending progress.
3. When message is done transferring an error message appears and the MSG is still in the outbox and not moved to sent box.

I will try deleting my Outbox now and see if that has any effect.

I deleted the OUT box and that did not fix the problem.

I will read the links that "jaceg" offered to see what I can find.

Then the other possibility is that sentbox is corruppted. Try to rename "Sent Items.dbx" to "Saved Sent Items.dbx" and C.

Thank you all.

I fixed whatever problem it was.

I moved all the email files/folders to another area.  Started OE and had nothing.&nbps; Then I imported everything back and it now works correctly.

Thank you for your offerings.

webmaker, could you please tell me if one of the links I provided helped you resolve this issue?

If so, which one?

This way we''ll know how to help others in the future who experience the same issue.

Thanks

I looked at the links.  I found one interesting that having antivirus software inspecting the email might corrupt message database.

But no.  Just from experience I decided to try what I did.  And I guess a lucky guess as it solved the problem I was having.

I should have taken OE offline first.  I received a lot of duplicate messages while I was importing, because OE went out to check for messages.  Oh well, easy to delete them.  At least I can now send without the original problem.

Thanks to you for your offer of help.

The other day I created new mail boxes.  I deleted all the boxes.

Things worked fine for a while.  Then a few days ago I was back receiving an error message when I would send a message with an attachment.

Now, with or without an attachment, none of my outgoing messages are going into the "sent" folder.

I wish I knew the problem.

I just tried an experiment.  My sent file is 2gb large.  So I renamed it.

When OE opened it created a new Sent file and now things work correctly.  (At least for now.)

Is there a way to archive the Sent file to make it smaller?

I am still having the problem of messages not going into the "sent" folder.

When Compacting the program gets to the "sent" folder it stops and says another program is using that folder.

Can anyone tell me what might be using the "sent" folder.

Maybe that is my problem when I am using OE and send a message.?  Spyware?  Virus?

Thanks
