Limes, XL shirts and Socrates

I haven't worked a lunch shift in forever and a lifetime. Honestly, I'm not quite a fan you don't make a whole lot of money people are in a super rush and and occasionally rude. But today's shift I found to almost intolerable as my morning duties were to cut limes! I'm a terrible cook as it already and now I'm suppose to cut a gigantic container of just limes (my hands still smell like them o_O) Thank goodness for Rory who was kind enough to jump and help me or else I would have never finished. as it was this morning was one of the hardest I've had at work yet. My personal life woes are coming through now and affecting my service to an extent. I've reached a point of despair and heartache that I'm having a hard time hiding from everyone. Then I ate lunch and felt better =)

I had this table of tennis ladies whom I recognize from the country club I use to work at. Oh sweet jebus!!! They were demanding, annoying and I grat'ed their table cause I knew they were not going to tip me jack squat! One of them even complained about the price of her ticket . Well, maybe she shouldn't have down so many beers at 12:30 in the afternoon! This other one flipped shit when I brought her plate saying that is what she ordered. That she had order the #1 not the lunch #1 I just told her she pointed at the lunch #1 and I had read back the entire order to her. It's ladies like them that inspire me to not become old and find the elixir to life so I don't become a giant SUV driving, complaining about lunch orders, penny pinching hag. Don't ask me how I really feel -_-

David (he is the owner's son) noticed that I'm swimming in my work shirt. It's an extra large in MEN'S!!! The only reason it stays on is probably cause I've got boobs. He gave me a large in women's hopefully it will be alright though I'm working out hardcore so I'm hoping to have to size down soon! I'm gonna give Xavier this one; he only has one shirt.

I had lunch w/ Xavier and Will, the later I think is already cool but Xavier totally blew me away. Over lunch we talked about philosophy and theology, We discussed CS Lewis, Socrates, and the Bible. I even shared with them that I write this blog though did not share the location nor title of it. I don't want to make enemies. It was good lunch convo.

Zee Wkend!

Holy Shiznipples! We were busy as in body slammed busy!!! I even had good sections so I was getting sat left and right and turning them tables I even gave some away in hopes of being cut! But alas I spent the majority of my Saturday night there though I made pretty good money so I'm not complaining too much =D

So, it seems I have captured Johnny's fancy as in HARASSMENT!!! He has taken to telling me how beautiful I am and how I'm so pretty and so on and forth. I find it rather annoying than uncomfortable. I don't want to be a bi0tch and burst his bubble that he is far from a ladies man aside from the fact that he is married and not in the least bit attractive.

Timmy got fired for not showing up we are all assuming.

The silverware fiasco seems to be blowing over but the trash talking about other ppl to other ppl seems to be getting worst. Everyone and there mother at this joint has something to say about everyone else. I'm sure someone is talking about me to someone else about the way I wear my apron or something just as ridiculous and far fetched.

OMGosh! I had the most ghetto table under the sun. It was a multi racial ghetto too. They ran my ass around, wanted to be treated like royalty and somehow managed to find a hair in their salsa even though the stuff is made by guys and served by guys most of the time. So, they got a 25% discount from my manager and I got stiffed! Nothing, absolutely NOTHING!!!! I'm not pissed off about the money I'm pissed off they got a flippin' discount still choose to stiff. The hostess heard one of them tell the other "f@#k the tip" as if someone how the hair ad the 25% discount they got ws my fault o_O

Later that day my section was quadruple sat! all these people knew each other but the rest of the restaurant was taken up by the football players and other folks form the game so they had to sit at separate tables by each other and my section happen to be the only one with available tables. it was a mess and hard to manage luckily they were real sweet and understanding.

Where are the church people???!?? This is the second Sunday we were lacking church folks. I was busy but not as previous Sundays. I did alright and had fairly sweet tables.

As the Taco's Turn

It seems September is a crummy month for the waitressing universe or this town is just full of penny pincher's. I'm gonna go with the later since this is a small town and I'm sure in some big city somewhere the waiters are rolling in the mula.

This past weekend I worked a double Saturday and a Sunday morning shift which typically brings in the church crowd. Oh boy! What a disappointment I made somewhere around 90 bucks for the whole weekend. Typically I'll make a 100 bucks if I work a double. Financially pathetic wkend and more people need to go to church so they come and eat at Cholita's afterwards!!!!!

The saga with silverware continues everyone is up in arms about knives and forks and people rolling before their shift is over, meh...

What I also don't get about this place is how everyone is out for themselves and you have a hard time getting someone to help you with anything. Luckily the busboys think I'm alright and the most of the male waiters so I haven't had too much trouble but I see how it is for the other girls. Things I thought normal seem to be unnatural at this place. I guess since I'm such great friends with the folks I use to work with at the country club when it came to helping each other out it was your friend not your co-worker. Here I haven't had a hard time making friends or atleast being tolerated by others but it isn't like the Club. That's the only aspect I miss of working there other then that Cholita's is treating me well.

Jesus Day!

I've known since day 1 the clock at work is 10 minutes ahead but I ignore it since everyone else does. Well, maybe I shouldn't have today cause I get to work on time by Greenwich Mean Time standards and I'm late! I'm standing outside with Victoria and Timmy. She had initially called and told Marco she was outside waiting and he hung up on her so I tried calling. Marco came out and gave us a pep talk so I've reset my clocks to the restaurant time hey I might get to places on time now =)
So, post staring game and pep talk we start the day and there are a gazillion servers, which means no one is making any money and to top it off I worked a double o_O. Morning shift was quite the waste of time and I spent the majority of the time being miserable even though I’m trying to keep my personal life out of my work life and ice versa. The second shift was a lot better after I had a chance to go home for lunch. Besides, I picked out my own section (I choose smoking) and ended up working with my good friend aside from that side being so much more relaxed. I didn’t make a whole lot of money in the after either but I honestly don’t care I rather have the peaceful atmosphere over major profit. Being a waitress is flippin’ stressful at least at my restaurant.

Cholita's

All name have been changed to preserve my job and maybe even my life =o

I’ve started working at this Mexican restaurant named Cholitas. It’s a lot different from the country club I use to work at. I actually have to do work and attempt at giving decent service to the customers. Anyway, here are some regulars and then there are some people that should consider going on the Subway diet. This job reminds me a bit of the museum in the sense that you get characters. Folks that probably should be on some heavy medication, incarcerated, maybe even in a home, but they aren’t they are table 21, booth 11, party of 4. My co-workers re another story in its self half of them are catty and God forbid you accidentally take one of their tables or their section, take cover! The other half is overly sensitive and hates on the other half, there are a few though those who walk it off and plain easy going.
Today’s drama was silverware and people rolling their share before they’re cut. The rule is you have to be cut before you can roll silverware. Well, Gladys is rolling and not just for herself but her boyfriend Felix as well. There are a few others around the rolling table and I’ve been cut so it’s time to pay the silverware god homage. She has a container full of knives I ask her if all of those knives are for her and she tells me yes even though she only needed to roll 4 more sets. I really didn’t give a hoot I went in search of my own cutting utensils and forks. Anyway, upon my return to the rolling table Marco is bitching to Timmy about Gladys rolling before she is cut and monopolizing the knives. He whined about it until he was blue in the face; this is just a job not my career.
Most of my tables were fantastical today with the exception of a few quiet ones and the 11 top, which consisted of more children then adults. The mom of the majority of these children was a lovely lady who talked down to me and made outlandish requests. Luck for me I got another table which saved me and left me a 30% tip which was a big deal. They made my night along with this guy who was my customer at the country club I use to work at came in with his girlfriend. Always nice to see old faces especially the ones of people who always make me smile.
Tomorrow is another day maybe Barbie will be out of jail and to return to work and I might finally meet the old new girl. She use to work there until her ex-boyfriend knocked her teeth out. Who knows it’s Jesus day though and I work a double =/

P.S. Cut me some slack I haven't written in a longtime and Texas has made me a bit soft.
