Installation/service Questions

I'm considering getting ADSL2 form LBDSL. I'm moving away from Comcast. I don't have any real experience with a dry line and I hope some folks here can answer my questions

I understand that the ILEC does everything up to the customers NID, and that the inside wiring is my problem. Does the ILEC add another modular plug to the NID (the same that you use for line testing) if you need it, or is that my responsibility?

The reason I ask is that the building has a relatively modern wiring scheme, the problem is that older wires, such as mine, go through "the black box of hell" (where it's damn hard to follow the splices) - I'd like to avoid this black box of death and wire straight through to the NID.

On service: Is there any (un)official data transfer limit? I ask because my job (lockergnome.com, live.pirillo.com) generally requires that I upload a large amount of data on a near-daily basis - and Comcast didn't appreciate that, even with a business account.

Also, I live in Bellevue, WA. Does LBDSL service this area, or just Seattle proper?

The ILEC installs the loop to the NID, which assuming we are talking about a newer NID, which has the test jack, then yes the ILEC does this. That is where they tie down and tag the loop.

EDIT: Also, just as an FYI, we will use existing wiring to bring the loop to the location you want the equipment installed at. so the inside wiring isn't 100% up to you, we just need the wire in place. So if you want to bypass what is there now, just run a Cat5 cable from the NID to the room you want the router (CPE) installed.

Nope, everything is wide open, we do not limit what or how much you transfer.

Your best bet would be for us to test your location, and see what options are available. but to directly answer your question, yes we do offer service out of multiple CO's in Bellevue »lbdsl.com/availability/WA.html

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Brent another question, if you don't mind,

After going through your Terms of Service (»lbdsl.com/tos/) it says that the installation cost is $325, but your business services page (»lbdsl.com/business-services.html) lists it as $225. Which one is right?

The current promotion is $225, with a Rebate (Rebate amount varies based on the speed you select).

The standard install fee is $325, however the current promo over rides the standard price

LordKaT here is my experience. You are charged around $200 to have the tech come out and setup your dry line, but the tech that shows up is usually a $15.00 an hour kid that is pretty useless. The first tech that came out could set my line up because of the ILEC. The 2nd guy comes out a week later and hooks up the line, but says their is still a problem at the ILEC. A third guy comes out and said it's my inside wiring and they are not responsible so I have to hire a wiring contractor to fix it. Out of frustration I went down to see the wiring personally and I noticed that the idiot that came out previously punched down the pair to the wrong location!! I repunched the wire myself and it worked fine. This is now 3 weeks from my original setup day and now I'm already passed my 21 day cancellation agreement. Well I finally got my line up, but the speed was pretty slow although I was told that my line could get at least 6mb after doing a pre-test. Unfortunately I'm locked into a contract and if I want to cancel it's going to cost me a lot of money in early termination fees. All in all I'm now paying over $1,200 a year not including the $200 setup for a line that only does 3mb / 768k. All in all the line is pretty useless because like yourself I need to transfer large amounts of data to and from the office and I'm paying top dollar for this POS line!!
