How many Voicestick customers converted to outgoing only and have working service?

I'm registered but when I attempt to place a call I get a recording "all circuits are busy now, please try your call again later."
My account has been converted. Outgoing works.

EDIT: As I posted this I picked up the voicestick line and suprise....suprise it's down AGAIN!

If I convert my account, do I essentially lose the number they assigned me? I assume so, since I'd have no use for a phone number, I guess.

Too bad because it was a good number (ended "-0000").

Don't remember if I gave them a CC (hope not) so I'd better switch now. What a waste of resources.

Yes. They converted me today (from an email a couple days ago) to a 333 area code for incoming only and just assigned me a completely new number. I've been wondering if VS2VS calls would work with this number or if FWD or GizmoProject will connect to it.

Forgot to say, if you open a new Outgoing only account you might be able to pick a number and have them transfer your balance. I didn't want to put more $$ on deposit and so had them assign me a number.

I'm converted and outbound is now working. Don't know when it got fixed. CID shows the new 1333123xxxx number. If you try to call back that number from a non VoiceStick line you get call cannot completed as dialed. I wonder what response I'll get from people I call.

I think VoiceStick handled the past 3 months poorly and lost all goodwill built from free inbound, but, in retrospect, get the impression they are a bunch of techs not comfortable communicating with people. They needed cash and reacted without a lot of thinking. I won't trust them for my incoming number but I'll continue to send some outbound and hope they get things together. Anyone looked at their latest financials?

I didn't know they had financials??? But then again, For $5 I figured they were running it out of someones basement.
For the money, my call quality was good.

Found this on VS faq page. They also define USF but nowhere do they mention fees.

Coming Soon

Shortly, we will eliminate the pre-pay system and simply bill you monthly for all calls outside your plan.

They took it out of the available balance at the end of the month... not the charge card unless you opted for autmatic refill. I'm not complaining about this it seems fair to pay the taxes on my free account, and for the calls I get I just ask can I call you right back for free? No one seems to complain...
OH and after over a month of outbound not working now its working again... after I swapped WRTP54G router with the identical settings??? Oh well I only use outgoing for other VS customers

I'm not complaining about the cost. I'm complaining about Voicestick's ongoing lack of notice before significant changes. Probably in violation of their own written terms. I did not get a Voicestick email detailing this latest change. I lost outbound and login rights to my account without notice while I had a prepaid balance. I could not get a responsive answer by phone, web or email. I finally requested plan changes based on what I read here. Again, I didn't get a responsive answer but Voicestick slowly restored access, feature by feature. I'm not asking for a refund and wish Voicestick the best, but, choose to pay my monthly fees to a more responsive vendor.

FYI
I was evaluating of using VS as a 2nd provider...

I asked for a refund (+10.00) and was informed that 1. I did not add more than $10.00, 2. I was not qualified for a refund anyways as my N2N was opened more than 2 months ago

Shortly after that email, I was no longer able to use my VS number(;

VS GL in the competative, constantly evolving VOIP bus.

If one should decide to port their number from Voicestick as a result of these changes ( a number originally ported in), what would you provide as proof since Voicestick does not display your phone number on any of its webpages under "my account" ?

You could port to Phonepower because, at least at the time I signed up, they didn't ask for any proof or a signed LOA.

I had an email from VS when I put an initial amount into my N2N plan and I also printed the Account page. Sent those along with a note that they do not send invoices and this was all I had. It was enough for Callcentric - my number is to be ported on the 11th.

no interest in phonepower... not gonna sign up for a voip based on ease of porting...
