Oh, wait you're from Kansas...didnt your state vote against crazy theories like evolution.... Exactly. As I recall, ATM would mean one side of the conversation would require a different amount of bandwidth versus the other, such as 90kbps to talk, and 40kbps to hear. Last time I checked, uLAW (aka G711u) is 90kbps both ways. The other part of the argument concerns "telephony signals", but there is nothing that resembles what an ISDN or PRI connection when it comes to SIP. All of the packets are sent in a header that resembles an e-mail address, so it is NOTHING like standard telephone signals. How is this even related, when the signaling in question does not resemble the original PSTN service? Makes ya wonder...
