Re: We need TBS HD!--DONE DEAL! As of the launch of TBS HD, it is no longer a local station in Atlanta. There is now another channel for the local broadcast in Atlanta. TBS HD should have at least the later seasons of King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond. Also, Sony went back and converted Seinfeld into HD, but they will have to get those episodes and start showing them. Was Friends ever in HD in the later seasons? I didn't have HD at the time so I don't remember. |

jpr281 join:2006-01-12 Shirley, NY | reply to johnnyjump Ok, so I watched 5 or so minutes of the overflow Chicago/Arizona game on TNT-HD. Same picture quality as TBS-HD, arifacting/macroblocking, etc. So either Cablevision is starving the b/w to both TNT and TBS, or this is really how the game is being sent out. On other forums, people with DirecTV claim they are not seeing any macroblocking going on with either game.
I'm sure one of you great minds can measure the bitrate of TNT-HD and TBS-HD, and share to the rest of us, so we know who is at fault. |

Re: We need TBS HD! I flipped over to the Boston/Angels game on TNT while the Yankees game is on TBS and the TNT game is much clearer. Anyone else take a look? |

 | reply to johnnyjump The aspect ratio seems to be wrong on some shows. I was watching the office last night and for no reason it had bars on the top and bottom, squishing the picture. They were broadcasting the 16:9 show, so I don't know why they had to mess with it. I saw the same problems on some commercials, but don't really care about that. |
|
MxxCon join:1999-11-19 Brooklyn, NY | because the original content is 16:9, broadcasted on 4:3 gives you letterboxing, and then TBS just stretches the picture, so you get that retarded wide+black bars result...instead of zooming it to get the original image |
|
 | reply to johnnyjump TBS new HD service is a joke. Low definition upscaled and distorted Friends. These HD claims should be banned. |

Jmartz join:2000-07-20 Tenafly, NJ | What else did you expect? If you demand an HD network that runs repeats of programming that was made before HD was around... you should expect it... TBS is known for syndication of old old old shows...
Now having FX where they actually have original content in HD... that would be awesome... |

GeekNJPremium join:2000-09-23 Waldwick, NJ | FIOS just added A&E HD after a long hiatus of anything new. We don't have TBS HD either. If you read the threads in the FIOS TV forum, you'll see the same comments - nothing but HD-ized SD content.
But get, everyone got another channel right! |
|
Jmartz join:2000-07-20 Tenafly, NJ | I really could care less if A&E HD is stretched out... honestly, it still looks better than the SD over compressed channel... either way, Cablevision claims they can do 500 channels... they should do it... if you don't like the way the HD looks, just watch the SD... but give people a choice. |

e2727Bklynguy join:2001-10-30 Brooklyn, NY | reply to MxxCon :All this about TBS HD , an so far all i see is stretch-o-vision,why have a HD channel that is just stretched -- "You know everbody, don't you? Everybody that's worth knowing" |

Jmartz join:2000-07-20 Tenafly, NJ 2 edits | It would be nice to see Cablevision add some more SD. There's lots of channels that we do not have. Sleuth, Chiller, both available in HD... FBN... available in SD and HD, BBC America, soon to be available in HD as well... CNBC World... FOX Reality...
NickGAS is changing formats soon, I wonder if Cablevision will use that as an excuse to drop that?
What about Free Video on Demand? I was playing with a comcast box the other day, and I was impressed with the selection of VOD. They even had a FREE HD VOD channel... it was right next to the FREE MOVIES ON DEMAND. Heaven forbid we get anything SD or HD for free... they need to get their act together with VOD as well... they aren't adding squat... maybe they are waiting until later this month when they announce their annual rate hikes to announce a bunch of new channels... |
