1 edit | [help] Dry loop DSL - What is going on?
Ended up placing an order, last week, for a dry loop dsl line (based on a few positive feedback posts here)and this seems to be turning into more trouble than it maybe worth!!
After having to call in about 5 times to GET the order placed, ATT finally shut my telephone line this Monday and on Tuesday my DSL line was out..so far so good.
I read here that folks had their line back on in 24 or less and that was not the case for me, but I received a modem sync sometime today. Again, so far so good, but I am not getting a connection. No default gateway coming up so that tells me something is up with my account.
I ended up calling tech support to ask if my login credentials would change due to this switch (thinking maybe I would need a new login) and I was told he was not sure. Did anyone have to re-register and setup a new account?
I also had a tech visit today and he said he had to do some work on the line to get the DSL going, and as he was working I mentioned to him my modem already had syncd, he called up to check to make sure my line was active and verified it was. So, I am not sure what is actually being done and why I can't connect.
Can Mrfixit or anyone that can take a look inside please give me an idea of what is going on? I've had my DSL since the days of SNET and have never really had any issues, but this seems to be getting everyone confused. And the reason I am posting this is because I don't want to wait till my so called "live" date (October 4th) to find out something was not properly configured on my account if there is no reason to wait that long.
