[POLL] DVD Creation Software - 2008 Members Choice

Wikipedia defines DVD authoring as

quote:
DVD authoring describes the process of creating a DVD video that can be played on a DVD player. DVD authoring software must conform to the specifications set by the DVD Forum group in 1995. The specifications are complicated due to the number of companies that were involved in creating them.

The actual layout of the files on the medium and the operations that have to be undertaken to produce a 'playable' DVD (starting with already MPEG2-coded footage) are far too intricate - and beyond the scope of this article - to be explained here, and, indeed, worlds apart from the simple process of CD-audio authoring.

Strictly speaking, DVD authoring is a separate process from MPEG encoding, but most modern DVD authoring software has a built-in encoder (though separate encoders are still used when better quality or finer control over compression settings is required).

Most authoring applications are for video DVDs only; they do not support the creation of DVD-Audio discs.

And now for the 2008 poll...

Re: [POLL] DVD Authoring Software - 2008 Members Choice

Great Poll!

Use? So far... none.
AR Series - Roxio EMC 10, Adobe Premiere Elements, Sony Click to DVD(does that count?), Vegas... others that *may* be considered "Authoring" softwares - for DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

Vegas is a trial, Roxio is an upgrade from v9, All others are Full Versions from the factory
This machine(AR) can do alot of neat things.

A Series - Roxio 9, Sony Click to DVD, & Movie Maker... possibly others.

Still using Roxio CD version 6.

I have 7.5 and 8 but have settled on 6 because it's like me: simple.

This is a great poll because I'm trying to find DVD Creation software that works well with Vista Home Premium and meets my needs. I've got trials of Nero Vision and Ulead DVD Movie Factory running now, and so far Ulead seems to glitch less.

Now I have a new bunch of programs to look into...

I voted "none" because so far I have only used DVD software for backing up data.

We use Nero Vision and Cyberlink PowerProducer. They came with the Computers. He uses them more than I do and he has had no problems at all making DVDs.

Great poll. Thanks!

Excellent poll Straphanger See Profile.

I use Roxio MyDVD Studio for multi-media productions and Windows DVD Maker (Vista) when I need a quick and easy single file burn.
