Re: [TWC] spyware invasion

mba is probably right. Your daugher-in-law's computer is infected. Also, if the computer guy reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows from the original CD that came with the computer, then it should have been clean. Apparently, it was not clean.

Is your daugher-in-law's computer stand-alone, the only computer in her house and the only one connected to the cable? If not, then the computer could have been re-infected by another connected to the same local network. That would not have been TWC's fault, either.

You might try downloading from this site:

This is Spybot-S&D, a free anti-spyware program. Save the download to your hard drive rather than opening and installing it. You can copy the download to a CD-R and take it to your daughter-in-law's computer. You can run the downloaded program there and it will attempt to install Spybot on her system. If you then run a scan, Spybot _may_ be able to remove whatever has infected her system. I make no guarantees. There are other solutions out there, and the suggestion by "mba" to Google "Trojan-spy" is good. If Spybot doesn't do the trick, something else may work.

No one is always right or always wrong, unfortunately.
