I agree with everyone here with don't download cam, just wait for the DVD rip. Most DVDs come out between 3-6 months from the release of the movie anyway. Just wait. | | dvd536 as Mr. Pink as they come Premium join:2001-04-27 Phoenix, AZ

| reply to dvd536 said by dvd536 :English isn't Oleg's native language. If that's true, I offer my apology to him and the others in this thread. I'm not a grammar nazi, I was a little annoyed and suspicious of his post... his writing style appeared to be intentional, as if he was faking it... I just got a feeling (right or wrong), that he may have been a plant, an anti P2Per, trying to entrap someone to either offer an avi, or divulge information or techniques that may be considered illegal.
I have used LW exclusively for two years now, have tried other apps. After a month or two in the beginning, learning the ropes, doing the homework, and hanging in the forums, I have little to no problem getting what I want. I have yet to receive a trojan, virus, spyware, or malware. I haven't DL'd a bogus file since using Bitzi. Currently I have about 50 DVD's, with each holding 5 -6 AVIs, fantastic quality, and even look like a real dvd on a 27 inch TV using a player that can read avi, divx, mpg, etc.
However, I do prefer to expand avi's back to full dvd size, and there are some good apps, evn freeware, that can rebuild the discarded pixels due to the original compression to avi.
I still have 850G on external drives, all avi (well most), and to this day I still find fresh, new things in LW and the gnutlla network. Screeners are cool, they can either be workprints, or rips from dvds (sent to all the hollywood folks) that are meant to be used for award consideration, sometimes have a crawler saying so, released to them b4 it hits theaters. Yesterday, I got American Gangster - over a gig, (split in two, which is normal), and it is the real thing... NOT a cam. I have seen a few excellent cam jobs, but they were obviously shot by the projectionist, due to the near perfect quality, camera angle, and abscence of the usual poor sound, dark lighting, cocked cam angle, and always the guy in front getting up to go to the bathroom or snack counter. But they are rare, usually find the cam jobs to be poor, and won't waste my time on DL unless I'm desperate to see film. I just had to see "3:10 to Yuma", and gave into the craving. The cam was horrendous, but damnit, the movie was good enough to almost negate the cam quality. Definately worth it, will get the real thing when it comes out.
many people scoff at LW... yeah it's like a country boy taking a walk thru a bad part of the city at night, but if you learn / and or know what you're doing, it's like walking into Fort Knox.
Would never ever use LW without PeerGuardian. It would be like skydiving with Mary Poppin's umbrella. It just might work, but, uh, I don't know, I may hit the ground safely, but in the middle of I-95, 25ft in front of that 18-wheeler doing 70 mph. Right before the truck hits you, you have a Wily Coyote moment.
Naturally, you should also be using realtime antivirus and anti apyware apps, as well as on-demand apps to catch what the others don't.
LW does not reside on my root drive, and my DLs are on a separate external drive, UPLds on another external HD.
To those who need to learn, just visit some forums dedicated to the program ur using. If u use LW, the gnutella forum offers an 'ivy-league' education. -- Friends Don't let friends vote Republican

| reply to Oleg darbea,
#1 Downloading WITH peer guardian is like using a broken rubber. It is nothing but a false sense of security and it even impairs you ability to use torrents by blocking sources that have absolutely nothing to do with copyright enforcement.
#2 You can not "rebuild the discarded pixels", You are duplicating existing pixels and not adding any quality whatsoever. It is not possible to 'uncompress' a file that has been compressed using DivX or Xvid. The best you can ever hope for is to upconvert well enough to maintain the original quality. No 'discarded pixels' are replaced, existing ones are just duplicated.
#3 Your 'sources' are second rate and incomplete. This is evidenced by your 'brag' about getting American Gangster. You downloaded the Xvid RECODE of the DVD screener. The "real thing" would have been if you had downloaded he untouched DVD screener that is also available online. Since the 2 disc AVI version is simply a recode of the DVD screener the quality is inferior to the actual DVD screener.
#4 Only saps upload to strangers. Only scum leeches P2P networks that depend on every bodies uploads for supply. Smart and savvy internet users know how to download safely and securely with the largest selection available anywhere on the internet.
You, my friend, are not a smart and savvy internet user. You are obviously a smart individual, but I believe you lack the experience to use your 'smarts' to figure out how to be savvy. Good on you for finding something that has kept you pleased for 2 years but realize there are some people on this forum that have been at this stuff for a decade.
The thing about your post that motivated my reply was the innocuous use of the word "exclusively". You do not strike me as a dumb person but to stay tied to one method so steadfastly does strike me as dumb. My first download off the internet was from a usenet newsgroup and to this day usenet newsgroups are my mainstay for downloading.
I have a decade of satisfaction from them but I am only able to stay so satisfied because I do try other things. I make my own first hand comparisons and do not limit myself to exclusive use of any one method. If there is something I want that I do not see on the newsgroups I will not hesitate to utilize an alternative method.
Fortunately for my, I have the experience that my bag of tricks generally allows me a few different means to download that do not require uploading so it is very rare that I need to be a sap in order to download something I want. It is a shame you hold onto exclusivity and do not allow yourself to grow. If you did afford yourself that opportunity you just might find you think some pastures are in fact greener.
